Chief of Police
The City of Cornwall is a progressive community of 50,000, situated along the St. Lawrence River in Eastern Ontario. Cornwall is Ontario’s easternmost city, a little more than 400 km east of Toronto, 100 km southeast of Ottawa and 120 km west of Montreal. The Cornwall Police Service (CPS) polices an area of 62 square kilometers and a population of approximately 48,000. It has served the citizens of Cornwall since 1784 and responds to the needs of our community through a combination of preventative, pro-active and reactive programs. The Service has 112 officers, 40 civilians and 14 special constables, 16 part-time staff members and 8 auxiliary members.
The Service responds to the needs of the community through a combination of preventative, pro-active and reactive programs, using the philosophy of community policing as its base. This concept embodies the idea that the police and residents work in partnership to find new ways to solve problems in working towards a common goal and a vision of "A safer Cornwall for all to enjoy."

As a high-profile community leader, you are a big picture thinker who is willing to embrace new approaches and partnership with community stakeholders to ensure the service can continue to meet its evolving needs. You can take on issues management and lead positive change while ensuring accountability. As Chief of Police, you will be a visible presence while establishing strong ties based on openness and trust between the police service and the diverse communities it serves. Working with the Board, your leadership team, service members and community partners, you will inspire all while ensuring open communication and establishing new priorities that will meet evolving needs.
As the new Chief, you have deep and varied experience as a policing executive, are known to be a courageous and transformative leader, are committed to positive community engagement and have both the political acuity and emotional intelligence to listen, recognize and act on the needs of the community while supporting service members.
