YOUTH IN POLICING INITIATIVE (YIPI) – SUMMER 2026
The Cornwall Police Service (CPS) strives to promote and demonstrate the values of Equity, Culture, and Belonging. We are committed to reflecting the diversity of the community we serve and encourage qualified candidates of all backgrounds and abilities to apply.
The CPS Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI) is a paid personal, professional, and community development opportunity for Cornwall youth aged 15-18. The program is in partnership with Ontario's Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS).
This is a paid student position for eight (8) weeks (June 29, 2026 to Aug. 20, 2026). The successful candidates will work 32 hours per week and are required to attend in person.
As a Youth in Policing Student, we want all members to be U.N.I.T.E.D.
- Understand and appreciate diversity
- Navigate their future through setting personal and professional goals
- Involve themselves as leaders in the community
- Think and reflect globally
- Empower others to be ambassadors of change
- Discover policing beyond the uniform
To qualify for the Youth in Policing Student position, applicants must:
- Be between the ages of 15-18
- Reside in the City of Cornwall or Akwesasne
- Be currently enrolled in secondary school
- Be returning to secondary or post-secondary school in September of 2026
- Be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Be available to attend work in person for the entire duration of the program
- Not be the child of a parent who currently works for the CPS
Selection
As a part of the selection for this position, all applicants will be assessed through a resume review, pre-screening questionnaire, interviews, and a background investigation.

INITIATIVE JEUNESSE EN POLICE (YIPI) – ÉTÉ 2026
Le Service de police de Cornwall (SPC) s’efforce de promouvoir et de démontrer les valeurs d’équité, de culture et d’appartenance. Nous nous engageons à refléter la diversité de la communauté que nous servons et encourageons les personnes qualifiées de tous horizons et de toutes capacités à poser leur candidature.
L’Initiative Jeunesse en Police (YIPI) du SPC est une occasion rémunérée de développement personnel, professionnel et communautaire destinée aux jeunes de Cornwall âgés de 15 à 18 ans. Le programme est offert en partenariat avec le ministère des Services à l’enfance et des Services sociaux et communautaires (MSESC).
Il s’agit d’un poste étudiant rémunéré d’une durée de 8 semaines (du 29 juin 2026 au 20 août 2026). Les personnes retenues travailleront 32 heures par semaine et devront être présentes en personne.
En tant qu’étudiant(e) de l’Initiative Jeunesse en Police, nous souhaitons que tous les membres soient unis:
- Comprendre et apprécier la diversité
- Orienter leur avenir en établissant des objectifs personnels et professionnels
- S’impliquer comme leaders au sein de la communauté
- Penser et réfléchir à l’échelle mondiale
- Donner aux autres les moyens de devenir des ambassadeurs du changement
- Découvrir le travail policier au-delà de l’uniforme
Pour être admissible au poste d’étudiant(e) de l’Initiative Jeunesse en Police, les candidat(e)s doivent :
- Être âgé(e)s de 15 à 18 ans
- Résider dans la ville de Cornwall ou à Akwesasne
- Être actuellement inscrit(e)s dans une école secondaire
- Retourner à l’école secondaire ou postsecondaire en septembre 2026
- Être légalement autorisé(e)s à travailler au Canada
- Être disponibles pour travailler en personne pendant toute la durée du programme
- Ne pas être l’enfant d’un parent qui travaille actuellement pour le SPC
Sélection
Dans le cadre du processus de sélection, toutes les candidatures seront évaluées au moyen d’un examen du curriculum vitae, d’un questionnaire de présélection, d’entrevues et d’une enquête de sécurité.
