NON-pARENT APPLICANTS FOR DECISION-MARKING RESPONSIBILITY - police record check

If you are applying for custody of a non-biological child and you have an upcoming court date, you can apply for this type of record check to accompany your form 35.1 application package.

Please note, to apply for a Non-Parental Custody Check with Cornwall Police Service, you must be a current resident of the City of Cornwall, as you will be required to provide proof of address.

Step 1:

Contact Cornwall Police Records Reception to book an appointment for fingerprints using Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services (CCRTIS).

Please state you need to book a fingerprint appointment for Non-Parental Custody.

Fingerprint fee: $66.50 due at time of appointment.
Acceptable payment methods: Cash, Certified Cheque/Money Order, Debit, Visa or Mastercard.

Step 2:

Attend your scheduled fingerprint appointment with the following documents:

-Two (2) pieces of valid Government identification
-Proof of residency in the City of Cornwall (ie: identification, utility bill)
-Completed Consent Form for Police Record Check for Non-Parent Applicants for Decision-Making Responsibility      

Record Check fee: $33.90 due upon submission of consent and identification.

Processing time:

Although Cornwall Police Service submits the fingerprints to the RCMP immediately after they have been taken, delays can occur and are out of Cornwall Police Service’s control.

Once the fingerprint results have been received from the RCMP and your records check has been completed, you will be contacted to pickup the documents.  Processing times may vary depending on volume.

Total fees:

$100.40 HST included (includes fingerprinting fee and police check fee).

Important information:

Please confirm with the courthouse or legal representation that this is the correct level of record check required and that you are the non-biological parent applying for custody. If you have access to the child but are not applying for custody as a non-biological parent you require a CRJMC (Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check) only.
