Youth Symposium

The Cornwall Community Police Service in association with the Eastern Ontario Training Board hosted the 13th annual Youth Symposium from February 13th to February 16th, 2017.Students in grade 7 to grade 12 were invited to listen to motivational speaker Mark Black who attended various schools within Cornwall delivered his powerful message, "don't live every day like it's your last day, just be ALIVE every day."

Mark Black is The Guy Who Get's Teens Thinking™ . A Heart & Double-Lung Transplant Recipient, 4-Time Marathon Runner, and best-selling author of "Live Life from the Heart", Mark has been working with teens for over a decade. As a former teacher, Mark understands teens in a unique way, having worked with them in a variety of settings. Unlike many adults, Mark has a special love for teens and a firm belief that most teens are engaged, productive, citizens. It is probably this love that teens connect with when Mark speaks to them.

Crime Prevention Week

November 6th to 12th, 2016, has been designated as Crime Prevention Week in Ontario. This special week reminds us that our local police officers are working to ensure our community has a safer tomorrow. The theme for 2016, “Planning together for Safer Communities” will enhance our joint efforts to create safer and stronger communities in Ontario.

During this week the Cornwall Community Police Service will be partnering with members of the Cornwall Colts Hockey Team and Eastern Ontario Health Unit in order to deliver important messages. Throughout the week members of the Cornwall Colts will have a video they prepared played through the Cornwall Community Police Facebook page in an effort to bring awareness to the topic of distracted driving. Their messages will also be shared on the jumbotron at the Colt’s hockey game on Thursday November 10th, 2016. Members of the Cornwall Community Police Service will also be on hand to provide important information.

The Cornwall Community Police Service would like to thank the following Cornwall Colts for their participation in delivering such an important message:

#28 Shawn Baird
#92 Brennan Markell
#18 Nick Lalonde
#19 Jeremy McFarlane
#9 JD Pogue

Communication between youth and police is making a difference in our community. It can be measured by the connection local youth have with our officers.
