ROBBERY, DOMESTIC ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE, MISCHIEF UNDER $5000, MISCHIEF OVER $5000

Cornwall, ON – A 30-year-old Long Sault man was arrested on April 29th, 2022 and charged with the following:

  • Robbery
  • Domestic assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Mischief over $5000

It is alleged on April 29th, 2022, the man threw an object at a vehicle where his ex-girlfriend was sitting inside of, causing damage to the vehicle. It is further alleged the man damaged a second vehicle, demanding the keys from the operator while threatening to use violence. The man fled with the vehicle, which was later located after colliding with a tree. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. The name of the man was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

THEFT UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – Mercedes Lague, 26, of Cornwall was arrested on April 29th, 2022 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on April 26th, 2022, the woman took a cell phone that was for sale from someone she did not know, without making any attempt to pay for the item. The woman fled the area, away from the victim, and police were contacted. On April 29th, 2022, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 9th, 2022.

CAUSING A DISTURBANCE

Cornwall, ON – Alana Coderre, 19, of Williamstown was arrested on April 29th, 2022 and charged with causing a disturbance. It is alleged on April 29th, while police were investigating an unrelated matter, the woman began screaming and yelling, causing a disturbance to members of the public in the area. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 12th, 2022.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 29th, 2022 and charged with breach of release order for contacting his ex-girlfriend. It is alleged on April 29th, 2022, the man was located in the company of his ex-girlfriend, despite the conditions of his release order. An investigation ensued and during the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on May 26th, 2022. The name of the man was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Amanda MacMillan, 33, of Cornwall was arrested on April 30th, 2022 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on April 19th, 2022, the woman failed to attend court for a previous fail to attend court offence. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On April 30th, 2022, she was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on July 12th, 2022.

FAIL TO STOP AFTER AN ACCIDENT

Cornwall, ON – Ian Osman, 37, of Cornwall was arrested on April 30th, 2022 and charged with failing to stop after an accident. It is alleged on April 30th, 2022, the man was operating a motor vehicle and struck another vehicle in the area of Carleton Street and Second Street. The man allegedly exited his motor vehicle and fled the area. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 12th, 2022.

THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on April 30th, 2022 and charged with uttering threats. It is alleged on April 21st, 2022, the woman made threats to kill her mother and police were contacted to investigate. On April 30th, 2022, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on May 31st, 2022. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT, THEFT UNDER $5000, ASSAULT, POSSESSION OF A SCHEDULE I SUBSTANCE

Cornwall, ON – Jessica Wright, 26, of Cornwall was arrested on May 1st, 2022 on the strength of a warrant. She was also charged with theft under $5000, assault and possession of a Schedule I substance, being methamphetamine. It is alleged on February 24th, 2022, the woman failed to attend court for a theft offence and a warrant was issued for her arrest. It is further alleged on May 1st, 2022, the woman attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the store. She was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer, who she allegedly assaulted, and police were contacted. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, at which time she was found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine. She was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 1st, 2022 and charged with four counts of breach of undertaking for contacting his ex-girlfriend and attending her residence. It is alleged on April 27th, 2022 and May 1st, 2022, the man attended his ex-girlfriend’s residence and had contact with the woman. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 1st, 2022, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT, THEFT UNDER $5000 X 2, FRAUD UNDER $5000, POSSESSION OF PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME, UTTER FORGED DOCUMENT, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – John Sawatis, 42, of Cornwall was arrested on May 1st, 2022 on the strength of a warrant for failing to attend court on March 31st, 2022. He was also charged with the following:

  • Theft under $5000 x 2
  • Fraud under $5000 x 2
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Utter forged document
  • Breach of probation x 4 (for possessing alcohol and failing to keep the peace)

It is alleged on February 28th, 2022, the man attended a Second Street business on two occasions, and removed a quantity of alcohol, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as he left the store on either occasion. It is further alleged in March, the man forged two stolen cheques to obtain a quantity of money that did not belong to him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 1st, 2022, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on May 31st, 2022.
