DOMESTIC ASSAULT, ASSAULT COUSING BODILY HARM (CHOKING)

Cornwall, ON – An 18-year-old man of Cornwall was arrested on May 27th, 2022, and charged with assault and assault causing bodily harm. It is alleged that on May 21st, 2022, he assaulted and choked his girlfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 27th, 2022, the man attended Police Headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on June 21st, 2022. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

FORCIBLE CONFINEMENT, EXTORTION, THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE, KIDNAPPING, BREACHES

Cornwall, ON – Two men were arrested and charged in connection with an incident that occurred on May 11th, 2022. It is alleged the two men approached a man who was in his vehicle, demanded the keys, drove the vehicle with the victim in it to various businesses and forced him to attempt to withdraw money while threatening to harm his family member if he didn’t comply. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result of the investigation the following men were arrested;

Madmoud Zaraybah, 41, of Ottawa, was arrested on May 13th, 2022 and charged with the following offences;

• Forcible Confinement
• Extortion
• Theft of Motor Vehicle
• Kidnapping

He was held for a bail hearing.

Shane Bertrand, 44, of Cornwall, was located on May 27th, 2022 and taken into custody. It is also alleged that the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not operate a motor vehicle. He was charged with the following offences;

• Breach of Release Order
• Forcible Confinement
• Extortion
• Theft of Motor Vehicle
• Kidnapping

He was held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Denise Portieous-Jodoin, 29, of Cornwall was arrested on May 27th, 2022, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that between February 23rd and April 7th, 2022, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition the report to a probation officer upon her release from custody. She failed to do so and a warrant was issued. She was located during an unrelated matter on May 27th, 2022. The warrant was executed and she was released to appear in court on July 12th, 2022.

WARRANTS

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old woman of Cornwall was arrested on May 28th, 2022, on the strength of outstanding warrants. It is alleged that on March 29th, 2022, the woman was scheduled to attend court, failed to do so, and a warrant was issued for her arrest. It is also alleged that she was scheduled to attend court on April 5th, 2022, failed to do so and another warrant was issued for her arrest. Furthermore, it is alleged on May 25th, 2022, the woman was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to not communicate with her ex-boyfriend, not to attend his residence, keep the peace and be of good behaviour, and notify police within 24 hours of any change of address. On this date, she contacted her ex-boyfriend and attended his residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. Investigation revealed that the woman no longer resided at her residence and did not notify any change of address. As a result, a warrant was issued for her arrest. On May 28th, 2022, the woman was located and the warrants were executed. She was held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released to protect the identity of the victim in her outstanding court matters.

BREACH OF RELEASE ORDER

Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old man was arrested on May 28th, 2022, and charged with breaching his release order. The man was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behavior and not to attend his ex girlfriend’s residence. It is alleged that on May 24th, 2022, the man attended his ex-girlfriend’s residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. He was arrested on May 28th, 2022, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on July 12th, 2022. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

Cornwall, ON – Angelique Ouellette, 26, of Cornwall was arrested on May 28th, 2022 and charged with three counts of criminal harassment It is alleged between March 22, 2022 and April 2nd, 2022, the woman repeatedly attended the area where the victims reside and watched the residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 28th, 2022, she was located, taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 28th, 2022.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall – ON – Nathan Glover, 19, of Cornwall, was arrested on May 28th, 2022, and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged that on May 28th, 2022, the man attended a Ninth Street business selected items and then left the store without making an attempt to pay for any of the merchandise. He was taken into custody by the store’s Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 28th, 2022.

INDECENT ACT, BREACH OF RELEASE ORDER

Cornwall, ON – Patrick Lachapelle, 32, of Cornwall, was arrested on May 28th, 2022, and charged with breach of release order and indecent act. The man is bound by a release order with the relevant condition not to consume and intoxicating substances. It is alleged that on May 28th, 2022, the male consumed alcohol and exposed himself to multiple people. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on July 12th, 2022.

BREACH OF RELEASE ORDER

Cornwall, ON – Mercedes Lague, 26, of Cornwall, was arrested on May 29th, 2022, and charged with five counts of breach of release order. The woman is bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to notify police of any address change, and to abide by a curfew. She is bound by a second release order to notify police of any change of address. She is also bound by a third release order with the relevant condition to notify police of any change of address. It is alleged that on May 3rd, 2022, the woman left her residence and did not return for a period of time. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 29th, 2022, she was located by police outside of her curfew, taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. 

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Aleah Thompson, 27, of Akwesasne, was arrested on May 29th, 2022, and charged with impaired operation and over 80. It is that on May 29th, 2022, she was operating her motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. An investigation ensued, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and released to appear in court on June 23rd, 2022.

WARRANTS

Cornwall, ON – Kyla Mercer, 22, of Summerstown, was arrested on May 30th, 2022, on the strength of outstanding warrants. It is alleged that on January 7th, 2022, she was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so resulting in a warrant being issued. It is also alleged that on March 23rd, 2022, she was scheduled to attend court, failed to do so and a warrant was issued. On May 30th, 2022, the woman was located and the warrants were executed. She was held for a bail hearing.
