FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

Cornwall, ON – On Sunday, October 16th, 2022 at approximately 4:00 pm, the Cornwall Police Service (CPS) was called to investigate a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The collision occurred in the parking lot of 420 Ninth Street West. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital and subsequently pronounced deceased.

The next of kin of the deceased have been notified and out of respect for the family, no further details are being released at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Jason Billings, 48, of Cornwall was arrested on October 14th, 2022 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on September 29th, 2022, the man failed to attend court for a previous fail to attend court offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On October 14th, 2022, he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on November 29th, 2022.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Keighlan Herne-Thompson, 22, of Williamstown was arrested on October 14th, 2022 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged on October 14th, 2022, the man was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol when the vehicle struck a hydro pole in the area of Third Street and Pitt Street. Police attended and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on November 1st, 2022.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – A 13-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on October 15th, 2022 and charged with assault with a weapon. It is alleged during an altercation with his sister on October 15th, the youth assaulted her with an object and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. The name of the youth was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Allan Menard, 46, of Cornwall was arrested on October 16th, 2022 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged on October 16th, the man was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, when he struck a parked vehicle in the area of Eleventh Street West. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on November 10th, 2022.

ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – An 18-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on October 16th, 2022 and charged with assault causing bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of youth probation order for possessing a weapon. It is alleged on October 5th, 2022, he assaulted a man known to him, causing an injury that required medical attention, while in possession of a knife. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On October 16th, 2022, the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as the conditions stem from when the man was a youth and is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – Richard Sauve, 71, of Cornwall was arrested on October 17th, 2022 and charged with assault. It is alleged on October 17th, 2022, the man assaulted an individual known to him and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
