CPS ARRESTS 7 INDIVIDUALS IN RELATION TO AN ATTEMPTED MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

 Cornwall, ON – Seven individuals have been taken into custody in relation to an attempted theft of a motor vehicle.

 During the early morning hours on December 21st, 2022, members of the Community Patrol Division were dispatched to the area of Fraser Avenue due to a report of individuals allegedly trying to enter a motor vehicle that did not belong to them. Police attended and located the individuals shortly thereafter during a traffic stop, at which time seven men were found to be in possession of a quantity of break in tools, as well as master key fobs.

 The following individuals were taken into custody and charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, possession of break in instruments, as well as three counts of possession of automobile master key:

  • David Caissie, 30, of Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, QC
  • Hancy Casseus, 33, of Riviere-des-Prairies, QC
    • o Also charged with breach of probation for failing to keep the peace.
  • Henock Dika, of Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, QC
  • Jean-Luc Habiragi-Lushule, 22, of Pointe-Aux-Trembles, QC
    • o Charged with an additional count of possession of automobile master key.
  • Emmanuel Koffi, 21, of Longueuil, QC
  • Yousuf Nasser, 18, of Saint-Leonard, QC
    • o Also charged with possession of a Schedule I substance (ecstasy)
  • Alex Plante, 19, of Montreal, QC

All seven men were held in custody to await a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, THREATS, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 40-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 20th, 2022 and charged with domestic assault, threats and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. He was also charged with breach of undertaking for contacting his girlfriend and being within a certain distance of her residence. It is alleged on December 20th, 2022, the man attended his girlfriend’s residence, despite his conditions, and assaulted her and made threats to harm her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

FAIL TO ATTEND FOR FINGERPRINTS

Cornwall, ON – Jasmine Lynch, 22, of Cornwall was arrested on December 21st, 2022 and charged with failing to attend for fingerprints. It is alleged on December 9th, 2022, the woman failed to attend police headquarters for fingerprints and an investigation ensued. On December 21st, 2022, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 26th, 2023.
