MISCHIEF UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 23-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 3rd, 2023 and charged with mischief under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged during an altercation with his ex-girlfriend on April 30th, 2023, the man damaged a door at the woman’s residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 3rd, 2023, the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on May 30th, 2023. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – Jeffrey Burles, 38, of Cornwall was arrested on May 3rd, 2023 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on February 13th, 2023, the man attended a Second Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as he left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 3rd, 2023, a member of the Cornwall Police Service attended the courthouse as the man was in custody on an unrelated matter. He was charged accordingly and remained in custody to await a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Miranda Mertes, 33, of Cornwall was arrested on May 3rd, 2023 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on April 21st, 2023, the woman failed to attend court for a previous fail to attend fingerprints offence. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On May 3rd, 2023, she attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on June 6th, 2023.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 39-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 3rd, 2023 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on April 4th, 2023, the man repeatedly contacted his ex-girlfriend, despite being warned to stop. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On May 3rd, 2023, he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on May 23rd, 2023. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
