UPDATE RE: INCIDENT AT POINTE MALIGNE

Cornwall, ON - On November 5th, 2023, CPS received a call for service at the encampment, located at Pointe Maligne, in regards to a sudden death.

Police received information that a 67-year-old female was unresponsive. An investigation commenced and along with emergency services, it was determined that the female was deceased. In coordination with the CPS Criminal Investigations Division, the incident is now under investigation by The Office of the Chief Coroner/Ontario Forensic Pathology Service to determine cause of death.

Preliminary findings of the investigation indicate that the circumstances surrounding the deceased are not suspicious or criminal in nature.
