BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Justin Gibson, 21, of Cornwall was arrested on October 9th, 2020 and charged with three counts of breach of release order for being outside of his residence with alcohol in his body, failing to abide by any other release conditions and failing to keep the peace. He was also charged with breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on October 9th, 2020, police were called to investigate a disturbance when they located the man intoxicated while outside his residence. An investigation ensued and the man was taken into custody. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

MISCHIEF UNDER $5000, ASSAULT X 2

Cornwall, ON - A 24-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on October 9th, 2020 and charged with mischief under $5000 and two counts of assault. It is alleged on October 9th, the woman assaulted her sister and a man known to her, as well damaged a window at the man’s residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 15th, 2020. Her name was not released as it would identify the victims in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Jason Turcotte, 32, of St. Andrews West was arrested on October 9th, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to declare changes in his living arrangements to the Ontario Works Resource Centre between July 2017 and March 2018, which resulted in an overpayment of $5,736.26. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On October 9th, 2020, police located the man and took him into custody on the strength of the warrant. The warrant was executed and he was released to appear in court on December 15th, 2020.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – Shane O’Connor, 29, of Cornwall was arrested on October 9th, 2020 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on October 9th, 2020, the man attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on November 17th, 2020.

OPERATION WHILE PROHIBITED, FLIGHT FROM POLICE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Stephane Deguire, 36, of Cornwall was arrested on October 11th, 2020 and charged with operation while prohibited, flight from police, and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on October 11th, 2020, the man was operating a motor vehicle while prohibited from doing so and failed to stop the motor vehicle while being pursued by police. The vehicle eventually came to stop, at which time he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 24th, 2020.

FAIL TO ATTEND FOR FINGERPRINTS

Cornwall, ON – Colby Benedict, 38, of Akwesasne was arrested on October 11th, 2020 and charged with failing to attend for fingerprints. It is alleged on September 24th, 2020, the man failed to attend police headquarters for fingerprints and an investigation ensued. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop on October 11th, 2020, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 24th, 2020.

DANGEROUS OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

Cornwall, ON – Ramsay Trew, 38, of Cornwall was arrested on October 11th, 2020 and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. It is alleged the man was operating a motor vehicle in a dangerous manner in the area of Danis Avenue and Walton Street and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 29th, 2020.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Justin Pawis-Lepage, 28, of Cornwall was arrested on October 11th, 2020 and charged with two counts of breach of release order for failing to sign in to police and failing to report to his bail supervision program. It is alleged on September 11th, 2020, the man failed to sign into police despite his conditions, as well as failed to report to his bail supervision program between September 3-16. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On October 11th, 2020, police located the man and took him into custody. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 29th, 2020.

SHOPLIFTING, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Thomas Quinn, 38, of Cornwall was arrested on October 11th, 2020 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of undertaking for attending a certain business. It is alleged on October 11th, 2020, the man attended a Marlborough Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANTS, MISCHIEF UNDER $5000, RESIST POLICE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 20-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on October 12th, 2020 on the strength of multiple warrants. He was also charged with the following:

·         Mischief under $5000

·         Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking x 2 (methamphetamine and cocaine)

·         Resist police

·         Breach of probation x 2 (for failing to keep the peace)

It is alleged on April 14th, 2020 the man entered a Second Street business while the business was closed. It is further alleged on May 31st, 2020, the man attended the residence of someone known to him and removed a gaming console without permission. Police were contacted and warrants were issued for his arrest. On October 9th, 2020, the man had allegedly attended the residence of his ex-girlfriend and damaged a door window. On October 12th, 2020, the man was taken into custody during a traffic stop, at which time he resisted police. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle and found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine and methamphetamine. He was charged accordingly. The warrants were executed and the man was held in custody to await a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Joshua Gavel, 36, of Cornwall was arrested on October 12th, 2020 and charged with breach of release order for possessing a knife, as well as breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on October 12th, 2020, while police were investigating an unrelated matter, the man was observed to be in possession of a knife, despite his conditions. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO ATTEND FOR FINGERPRINTS

Cornwall, ON – Kandy Pierce, 27, of Akwesasne was arrested on October 12th, 2020 and charged with failing to attend for fingerprints. It is alleged on September 28th, 2020 the woman failed to attend police headquarters for fingerprints and an investigation ensued. On October 12th, 2020, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 31st, 2020.

POSSESSION FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRAFFICKING X 2, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Esidoros Sideratos, 19 of Iroquois was arrested on October 12th, 2020 and charged with the following:

·         Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking x 2 (methamphetamine and cocaine)

·         Breach of release order x 2 (for failing to remain in his residence and keep the peace)

It is alleged during a traffic stop on October 12th, 2020, the man was observed in breach of his conditions and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, at which time he was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine and methamphetamine. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

POLICE INVESTIGATION INTO FOUND HUMAN REMAINS

Cornwall, ON – On Saturday, October 10th, 2020 shortly before noon, the CPS received a call to respond to a deceased body that was discovered in a wooded area north of Tollgate Road, between Brookdale Avenue and Pitt Street. The identity of the deceased is yet to be determined.

The investigation is being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Division, in conjunction with the Forensic Identification Unit, as well as the Regional Coroner’s Office.

At this time, the investigation remains ongoing with no new information to release. The CPS can confirm there is no threat to public safety.
