POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY, DISTRIBUTION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

Cornwall, ON – The Cornwall Police Service (CPS) Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit recently conducted an investigation into child pornography being distributed through the internet.

As a result of the investigation, Patrick Brownell, 18, of Cornwall was arrested on November 25th, 2020 and charged with possession child pornography and distribution of child pornography. After executing a search warrant on the man’s electronic device, police allegedly located child pornography that had been distributed through the internet. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 9th, 2021.

The CPS is a member of the Ontario Provincial Strategy to Combat Internet Child Exploitation. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 55-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on November 26th, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged between 2019 and July 2020, the man assaulted his common-law-wife, threw an edged object at her and damaged her cell phone. It is further alleged the man would criminally harass the woman by engaging in threatening conduct. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On November 26th, 2020, police located the man and took him into custody on the strength of the warrant. The warrant was executed and he was held in custody to await a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

SEXUAL ASSAULT, SEXUAL ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, ASSAULT CAUSE BODILY HARM, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on November 26th, 2020 and charged with the following:

·         Sexual assault

·         Sexual assault with a weapon

·         Assault cause bodily harm

·         Assault with a weapon

·         Breach of probation (for failing to keep the peace)

It is alleged between September and November, the man assaulted a female companion and on one occasion, used a door to strike her. It is further alleged the man choked the woman and sexually assaulted her using a sexual device. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On November 26th, 2020, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Matthew Thompson, 34, of Akwesasne was arrested on November 26th, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man was operating a motor vehicle while prohibited from doing so on November 8th, 2020 and police were contacted to investigate. A warrant was issued and on November  26th, 2020, the man was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant while stopped at the Port of Entry. The warrant was executed and he was released to appear in court on February 4th, 2021.
