BREAK AND ENTER, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, MISCHIEF UNDER $5000, OBSTRUCT POLICE, DISARM A POLICE OFFICER, ASSAULT A POLICE OFFICER

Cornwall, ON – Thomas Kahnapace, 22, of Cornwall was arrested on December 2nd, 2020 and charged with the following:

·         Break and enter

·         Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

·         Assault with a weapon

·         Mischief under $5000

·         Obstruct police

·         Disarm a police officer

·         Assault a police officer

It is alleged on December 2nd, 2020, the man forced his way into the residence of someone known to him, damaging a door and windows, while brandishing an edged-weapon to the residents. He fled shortly thereafter and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, police located the man, who provided a false name to an officer. He was taken into custody, at which time a struggle ensued and the man assaulted the officer and attempted to reach for the officer’s firearm. The man was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

OPERATION WHILE PROHIBITED

Cornwall, ON – Paul Buckshot, 48, of Akwesasne was arrested on December 2nd, 2020 and charged with operation while prohibited. It is alleged on December 2nd, the man was operating a motor vehicle while prohibited from doing so in the area of St. Felix Street and Easton Avenue. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 21st, 2021.

ROBBERY X 2

Cornwall, ON – Jodie Michaud, 19, of Cardinal was arrested on December 2nd, 2020 and charged with two counts of robbery. It is alleged on November 10th, 2020, the woman attended two convenience stores and assisted with a robbery that had occurred. On December 2nd, 2020, she attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 9th, 2021.

UTTERING THREATS X 4, INTIMIDATION

Cornwall, ON – A 23-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 2nd, 2020 and charged with four counts of uttering threats and one count of intimidation. It is alleged between October and December, the man made threats to kill his girlfriend and their children, as well as intimidated the woman. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On December 2nd, 2020, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victims in the matter.

THREATS, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 21-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 2nd, 2020 and charged with uttering threats and breach of release order for contacting his ex-girlfriend. It is alleged on November 28th, 2020, the man made threats to kill his ex-girlfriend and police were contacted to investigate. On December 2nd, 2020, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

MISCHIEF UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on December 2nd, 2020 and charged with mischief under $5000 and breach of undertaking for failing to abide by house rules. The youth was also charged with two counts of breach of release order for failing to abide by a curfew and house rules. It is alleged on December 2nd, 2020, the youth damaged a chair in her residence, failed to comply with house rules, and subsequently left the residence despite her curfew. Police were contacted and located the youth. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

WARRANT, POSSESSION OF A SCHEDULE I SUBSTANCE

Cornwall, ON – Maggie Payne, 31, of Cornwall was arrested on December 2nd, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. She was also charged with possession of a Schedule I substance, being methamphetamine. It is alleged in December 2019, the woman deposited stolen cheques into her bank account and fraudulently obtained a quantity of money. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On December 2nd, 2020, police located the woman and took her into custody on the strength of the warrant, at which time she was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. She was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 16th, 2021.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 13-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on December 2nd, 2020 and charged with breach of undertaking for failing to abide by a curfew. It is alleged on December 2nd, 2020, the youth was outside of his residence, despite his curfew, and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. The name of the youth was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 2nd, 2020 and charged with breach of undertaking for attending his mother’s residence. It is alleged on December 2nd, 2020, the man attended his mother’s residence, despite the conditions of his undertaking, and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Roger Markell, 50, of Iroquois was arrested on December 3rd, 2020 and charged with breach of undertaking for attending Cornwall, as well as breach of probation of failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on December 3rd, 2020, the man was in the City of Cornwall, despite his conditions, and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 18th, 2021.
