DOMESTIC ASSAULT, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old Akwesasne man was arrested on December 3rd, 2020 and charged with domestic assault and mischief. It is alleged during an altercation with his girlfriend, he assaulted the woman and damaged a window in her residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 9th, 2021. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT, TRAFFIC IN SCHEDULE I SUBSTANCE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Micheline Larin, 40, of Cornwall was arrested on December 3rd, 2020 on the strength of a warrant for breaching her probation. She was also charged with trafficking in a Schedule I substance, being fentanyl, as well as breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on October 28th, 2020, the woman had been trafficking in fentanyl in the City of Cornwall and an investigation ensued. On December 3rd, 2020, police located the woman and took her into custody on the strength of the warrant. She was charged accordingly and held in custody for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Travis Cook, 38, of Cornwall was arrested on December 4th, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend police headquarters for fingerprints on November 5th, 2020 and further failed to notify police of a change of address, despite his conditions. An investigation ensued and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On December 4th, 2020, he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

CHARGES LAID AS A RESULT OF RECENT “FREEDOM MARCH” PROTEST

As a result of an ongoing investigation into the “Freedom March” protest that occurred on November 21st, 2020, the two organizers of the event have been charged and issued Provincial Offences Act Summonses for the following offences:

·         Fail to comply with a continued Section 7.0.2, contrary to Re-Opening Ontario (A Flexible Response to COVID-19) Act, 2020- O.Reg 364/20 – Rules for areas in Stage 3, Section 10(1)(a)

·         Hosted/organized a public event where the number of people in attendance exceeds the number permitted under the continued Section 7.0.2 Order, contrary to Re-Opening Ontario (A Flexible Response to COVID-19) Act, 2020- O.Reg 364/20 – Rules for areas in Stage 3, Section 10.1(1)(a)

The individuals will appear in provincial court on January 19th, 2021.
