FOURTEEN YEAR OLD YOUTH ARRESTED FOR THEFT OF VEHICLE

Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on June 28th, 2021 and charged with the following:

  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Breach of release order x 2 (for failing to remain in his residence during curfew and contacting a certain person)
  • Breach of youth probation x 4 (for contacting a certain person, failing to remain in his residence during curfew, failing to abide by house rules, and being in the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle)

It is alleged on June 27th, 2021, the 14-year-old youth left his residence with his mother’s vehicle, in addition to contacting someone he has conditions of no contact with. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the early morning hours on June 28th, police locate the youth and the vehicle. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

WARRANT, POSSESSION OF A SCHEDULE I SUBSTANCE, TRAFFICK IN A SCHEDULE I SUBSTANCE

Cornwall, ON – Brandon Jocko-Sylvester, 47, of Cornwall was arrested on June 28th, 2021 on the strength of a warrant for a theft offence at a Second Street business on June 5th, 2021. He was also charged with possession of a Schedule I substance (methamphetamine) and traffic in a schedule I substance (methamphetamine). On June 3rd, 2021, the Cornwall Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police executed a series of search warrants in the City of Cornwall as part of Project Sunrise. During the search of one of the involved residences, the man was located with a quantity of methamphetamine pills.  On June 28th, 2021, police located the man and took him into custody on the strength of the warrant. He was further charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 7th, 2021.

MISCHIEF UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – A 21-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on June 28th, 2021 and charged with mischief under $5000. It is alleged while in police custody on June 28th for a domestic-related offence, the man damaged a phone at the police station. The man was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 7th, 2021. His name was not released as his original charges stem from a domestic-related incident, which would identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, ASSAULT POLICE, MISCHIEF UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on June 28th, 2021 and charged with assault with a weapon, assault police and mischief under $5000. It is alleged on June 28th, 2021, while police were investigating an unrelated matter, the youth assaulted a police officer, and threw a rock in the direction of the officer, striking a police vehicle. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. Her name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
