WARRANT, THREATS, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on January 13th, 2022 on the strength of a warrant for failing to attend court. He was also charged with the following:

  • Uttering threats
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Breach of release order x 4 (for contacting his ex-girlfriend, being within a certain distance of her, attending her residence and possessing a weapon).

It is alleged the man failed to attend court on December 7th, 2021 for a previous fail to attend court offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On January 13th, 2022, the man was located at his girlfriend’s residence, despite his conditions, and is alleged to have made threats to kill her while holding an edged weapon. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

OPERATION WHILE PROHIBITED

Cornwall, ON – James Samson, 44, of Hammond, ON was arrested on January 13th, 2022 and charged with three counts of operation while prohibited. It is alleged on January 13th, 2022, the man was operating a motor vehicle, despite being prohibited from doing per three separate driving suspensions. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 29th, 2022.

IMPAIRED, PERSONATION WITH INTENT TO AVOID ARREST

Cornwall, ON – Lee Richer, 34, of Cornwall was arrested on January 14th, 2022 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and personation with intent to avoid arrest. It is alleged during the early morning hours on January 14th, 2022, the man was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drug and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, the man identified himself as somebody else to police. He was subsequently taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 29th, 2022.
