POLICE PRESENCE ON BELMONT STREET

Cornwall, ON – At approximately 10:30 am on January 20th, 2022, members of the Cornwall Police Service attended the area of Belmont Street to conduct an investigation, resulting in heavy police presence. The investigation concluded at approximately 1:00 pm.

The CPS can confirm there is no threat to public safety in the area. Further details on the conclusion of this investigation and any arrests made will be released at a later time.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, DOMESTIC MISCHIEF, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on January 19th, 2022 and charged with domestic assault, mischief and breach of release order for being outside of his residence with alcohol in his body. It is alleged on January 19th, 2022, the man, after consuming alcohol, attended his wife’s residence, where he assaulted the woman and damaged a door in the residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

CRIMINAL HARASSMENT, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Lori McConkey, 58, of Cornwall was arrested on January 19th, 2022 and charged with criminal harassment and three counts of breach of release order for failing to remain in her residence, failing to charge her ankle monitor and failing to cooperate with staff involved with her ankle monitor. It is alleged on January 16th, 2022, the woman repeatedly contacted someone known to her, despite being warned to stop. It is further alleged the woman had failed to comply with the conditions of her release order surrounding her ankle monitor. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On January 19th, 2022, the woman was taken into custody during a traffic stop, at which time she was located outside of her residence, despite her conditions. She was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Klaus Vachon, 45, of Montreal was arrested on January 19th, 2022 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on July 26th, 2008, the man attended a Brookdale Avenue business, despite his conditions, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On January 19th, 2022, the man was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on April 5th, 2022.
