BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Kevin Simser, 37, of Cornwall was arrested on February 8th, 2022 and charged with breach of release order. It is alleged on February 2nd, 2022, the man failed to report to his bail supervision program, despite his conditions, and police were contacted to investigate. On February 8th, 2022, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

RESIST POLICE

Cornwall, ON – Jean Gagne, 64, and Sylvie Jans, 58, both of South Glengarry, were arrested on February 8th, 2022 and charged with resisting police. It is alleged on February 8th, 2022, the individuals refused to leave the Cornwall Community Hospital and were subsequently charged under the Trespass to Property Act. While being taken into custody, the man and woman both resisted arrest. They were charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 18th, 2022.

MAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING YESTERDAY’S THIRTEENTH STREET OPERATION

Cornwall, ON – A 30-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 8th, 2022 and charged with the following: 

  • Domestic assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault cause bodily harm (choking)
  • Domestic mischief
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Pointing a firearm x 3
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x 2
  • Breach of prohibition order x 2 (for possessing a knife and a firearm)
  • Assault police
  • Breach of probation (for failing to keep the peace)

It is alleged during an altercation with his girlfriend on February 8th, 2022, the man assaulted her, choked her, assaulted her with a knife and damaged her cell phone. The woman fled the residence and contacted police. Upon attending the residence, police observed the man to be in possession of a firearm, which he pointed at police officers. Members of the Cornwall Emergency Response Team and CPS Negotiators attended and conducted an operation to safely take the man into custody. While in custody, it is alleged the man spat at a police officer. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
