DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Dec. 19, 2023, and charged with assault. It is alleged on Dec. 19, 2023, the man assaulted his spouse. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Jan. 12, 2024. His name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, MICHIEF UNDER $5,000

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on Dec. 19, 2023, and charged with the following:

  • Assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Mischief under $5,000

It is alleged on Dec. 19, 2023, the woman assaulted her spouse, threatened him with an edged weapon and damaged property in the residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on Dec. 19, 2023, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on March 22, 2023, police responded to a robbery on Ninth Street East and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, it was revealed the youth was in possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Dec. 19, 2023, the youth was taken into custody at the Port of Entry by Border Services Officers and turned over to members of CPS. The warrant was executed and he was released to appear in court on Feb. 1, 2024. His name was not released as per the provisions of the Youth Justice Criminal Act.   

ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, UTTERING THREATS, WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Aven Carpenter-Houle, 21, of Cornwall, was arrested on Dec. 19, 2023, and charged with the following:

  • Assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Uttering threats

It is alleged on Dec. 19, 2023, the man assaulted, damaged the property of, and uttered threats to an individual known to him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located and taken into custody. During the investigation, it was revealed the man had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. It is alleged between Jan. 5, 2022 and May 10, 2023, he was bound by a release order to report by phone to a probation officer, live at a place approved by the probation officer, notify the court or probation officer in advance of any change of name or address and report in person to a probation officer to assist in supervision. He failed to do so and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The warrant was executed, he was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
