FAIL TO COMPLY, DANGEROUS OPERATION CAUSING BODILY HARM, FAIL TO STOP AT ACCIDENT RESULTING IN BODILY HARM

Cornwall, ON – A 21-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Oct. 3, 2024, and charged with the following:

  • Two counts of fail to comply with undertaking
  • Dangerous operation causing bodily harm
  • Fail to stop at accident resulting in bodily harm

It is alleged in the early morning hours of Oct. 3, 2024, the man was bound by an undertaking with the relevant condition to not contact his girlfriend and to not be within 50 metres of her.

It is also alleged on this date, the man operated his vehicle in a dangerous manner, striking his girlfriend and another individual. Furthermore, it is alleged, the man failed to remain at the scene of the accident.

Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. Both individuals were transported to hospital – one with minor and the other with serious injuries.

Later on Oct. 3, 2024, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taking into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

His name was not released to protect the identity of a victim in the matter.

SHOPLIFTING, WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Ryan Levac, 36, of Cornwall, was arrested on Oct. 3, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and additionally charged with theft under $5,000. It is alleged on July 24, 2024, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. It is also alleged on Sept. 19, 2024, the man was scheduled to appear in court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Oct. 3, 2024, the man was located by police, who were on general patrol. The warrant was executed, he was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Nov. 5, 2024.
