FAIL TO COMPLY, DOMESTIC ASSAULT, SEXUAL ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Sept. 4, 2024, and charged with the following:

  • Two counts of fail to comply with release order
  • Three counts of domestic assault
  • Sexual assault

It is alleged from January 2024 to Aug. 2024, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to not contact or communicate with his ex-girlfriend and to not be within 100 metres of any place she lives. It is also alleged during this period of time, the man was in contact with his ex-girlfriend at her residence.

Furthermore, it is alleged on June 15, 2024, the man assaulted his ex-girlfriend on two separate occasions. It is also alleged in June 2024, the man sexually assaulted the woman. Finally, it is alleged on Aug. 5, 2024, the man once again assaulted his ex-girlfriend.

Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.

On Sept. 4, 2024, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. The man’s name was not released to protect the identity of the victim in the matter.

WARRANTS

Cornwall, ON – Mercedes Lague, 28, of Cornwall, was arrested on Sept. 5, 2024, on the strength of outstanding warrants. It is alleged on March 19, 2024, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest. It is also alleged on Aug. 22, 2024, the woman was once again scheduled to appear in court and failed to do so. Another warrant was issued for her arrest. On Sept. 5, 2024, the woman was located by police who were on general patrol. The warrants were executed and she was released to appear in court on Nov. 5, 2024.

REFUSAL

Cornwall, ON – Tanyia Moquin, 37, of Cornwall, was arrested on Sept. 5, 2024, and charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand. On Sept. 5, 2024, police responded to a possible impaired driver call in the area of Montreal Road and an investigation ensued. The woman was located by police and a traffic stop was subsequently conducted in the area of Tollgate Road East and Brookside Crescent. While police were conducting an impaired operation investigation, the woman allegedly refused to comply with the demand to complete a standardized field sobriety test. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Oct. 3, 2024.
