FAIL TO ATTEND COURT

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 10th, 2021 and charged with failing to attend court. It is alleged on March 9th, 2021, the man failed to attend court for a domestic assault offence and an investigation ensued. On March 10th, 2021, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANTS

Cornwall, ON – Ian Lacelle, 43, of Cornwall was arrested on March 10th, 2021 on the strength of two warrants. It is alleged on January 28th, 2021, the man failed to attend court for an assault offence and further failed to attend for fingerprints on March 1st, 2021. An investigation ensued and warrants were issued for his arrest. On March 10th, 2021, he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants and released to appear in court on May 18th, 2021.

TWO MEN ARRESTED AFTER ALTERCATION AT A PITT ST. BUSINESS

Cornwall, ON – A 40-year-old Avonmore man and a 36-year-old Cornwall man were both arrested on March 10th, 2021 and charged with the following:

40-year-old Avonmore man:

·         Aggravated assault

·         Assault with a weapon

·         Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

36-year-old Cornwall man:

·         Assault with a weapon

·         Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

It is alleged on March 10th, 2021, an altercation ensued between the two men while at a Pitt Street business. During the altercation, the 40-year-old assaulted the 36-year-old man with an edged object and the 36-year-old assaulted the 40-year-old with a wooden object. The younger man was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. An investigation ensued, resulting in both men being taken into custody and each charged accordingly. The 40-year-old man was released to appear in court on May 13th, 2021, and the 36-year-old man was released to appear in court on May 4th, 2021. Their names were not released as it would identify both of the victims in the matter. 

WARRANTS, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Joseph Lalonde, 30, of Morrisburg was arrested on March 10th, 2021 on the strength of multiple warrants. He was also charged with breach of release order for failing to reside with his surety, attending Cornwall and possessing weapons. It is alleged in October 2020, the man was in possession of a quantity of stolen property, and further failed to attend court on December 8th, 2020. An investigation ensued and warrants were issued for his arrest. On March 10th, 2021, police located the man in the City of Cornwall, despite his conditions. He was taken into custody, at which time he was found to be in possession of a knife. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

SHOPLIFTING, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Michel Lecompte, 63, of Cornwall was arrested on March 11th, 2021 and charged with theft under $5000 as well as three counts of breach of release order. It is alleged on March 10th, 2021, the man attended a Second Street business, despite his conditions, and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 11th, 2021, the man was located by police and was taken into custody. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Frederico Belmonte, 50, of Cornwall was arrested on March 11th, 2021 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man breached his probation and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On March 11th, 2021, the man was located by police and was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant. The warrant was executed and he was released to appear in court on May 4th, 2021.

WARRANT, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Sri Ramachandran, 49, of Cornwall was arrested on March 11th, 2021 on the strength of a warrant. He was also charged with two counts of breach of release order for failing to reside at a certain address and failing to report to a bail program. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on February 23rd, 2021 for an assault offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On March 11th, 2021, he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on May 27th, 2021.
