BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 30-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 2, 2021 and charged with two counts of breach of probation for contacting his ex-girlfriend and being within a certain distance of her. It is alleged during a traffic stop on April 2nd, the man was located in a vehicle with his ex-girlfriend, despite the conditions of his probation order. An investigation ensued and the man was subsequently taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 10th, 2021. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Frank Benedict, 38, of Cornwall was arrested on April 3rd, 2021 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on March 30th, 2021 the man was unlawfully in the residence of someone known to him, where he committed an aggravated assault on the resident and took several electronics after preventing the victim from leaving. Police were contacted and the victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. An investigation ensued and a warrant was subsequently issued for Frank Benedict’s arrest. On April 3rd, 2021, police located the man and took him into custody on the strength of the warrant. The warrant was executed and he was held in custody to await a bail hearing.

THREATS, ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on April 3rd, 2021 and charged with assault and two counts of uttering threats. It is alleged during an altercation with his mother, the youth assaulted the woman and further made threats to kill her and burn down her residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 47-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on April 3rd, 2021 and charged with assault. It is alleged during an altercation with her son on March 30th, 2021, the woman assaulted him and police were contacted to investigate.  On April 3rd, 2021, the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 15th, 2021. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

CRIMINAL HARASSMENT, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – Andre Rose, 33, and Richard Bellefeuille, 46, both of Cornwall, were arrested on April 3rd, 2021 and charged with criminal harassment and mischief. It is alleged on April 3rd, 2021 the men attended a church during a religious assembly and caused a disturbance. The men also allegedly harassed a member of the church, by engaging in threatening conduct. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, both men were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 15th, 2021.

IMPAIRED BY DRUG

Cornwall, ON – Kayla Leclair-Thompson, 26, of Cornwall was arrested on April 4th, 2021 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug. It is alleged the woman was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drug in the area of Pitt Street and Thirteenth Street. She was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 15th, 2021.

IMPAIRED BY DRUG, POSSESSION OF A SCHEDULE I SUBSTANCE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Coty Casselman, 24, of Cornwall was arrested on April 4th, 2021 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug, possession of a Schedule I substance (purple fentanyl) and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged the man was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drug in the area of 100 Water Street. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, at which time he was found to be in possession of a quantity of purple fentanyl. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 15th, 2021.

BREAK AND ENTER

Cornwall, ON – Anson Jacco, 55, of Akwesasne was arrested on April 4th, 2021 and charged with two counts of break and enter. It is alleged during the early morning hours on April 4th, the man forced his way into two residences, in which the occupants of one of the two residences were known to him. Police were contacted and took the man into custody. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 15th, 2021.

WARRANTS

Cornwall, ON – Justin Pawis-Lepage, 29, of Cornwall was arrested on April 4th, 2021 on the strength of multiple warrants. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on January 26th, 2021 and February 25th, 2021. It is further alleged the man failed to attend police headquarters for fingerprints on December 17th, 2020 and warrants were subsequently issued for his arrest. On April 4th, 2021, the man was located by police and was taken into custody. The warrants were executed and he was held in custody to await a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – Joseph Lepage, 35, of Cornwall was arrested on April 4th, 2021 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on December 8th, 2020 for a fraud offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On April 4th, 2021, the man was located by police. The warrant was executed and he was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Mitchell Schwerdtfeger, 28, of Chesterville was arrested on April 4th, 2021 and charged with breach of release order for operating a motor vehicle. It is alleged during a traffic stop on April 4th, the man was located operating a motor vehicle, despite the conditions of his release order. An investigation ensued and the man was subsequently taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 1st, 2021.

THEFT UNDER $5000, PERSONATION, OBSTRUCT, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Michael Harding, 36, of Cornwall was arrested on April 5th, 2021 and charged with theft under $5000, personation, obstruct police and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on April 5th, 2021, the man had taken numerous items from vehicles in the area of Alice Street that did not belong to him. Police were contacted and located the man, who provided a false name to police. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 15th, 2021.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on April 5th, 2021 and charged with five counts of breach of undertaking for contacting her boyfriend, attending his residence and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on April 5th, 2021, while responding to a disturbance, police located the youth at her boyfriend’s residence, despite her conditions. An investigation ensued and she was subsequently taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH, POSSESSION OF A SCHEDULE I SUBSTANCE X 2

Cornwall, ON – Kyla Mercer, 21, of Cornwall was arrested on April 6th, 2021 and charged with theft under $5000, possession of a Schedule I substance x 2 (cocaine and fentanyl), as well as breach of undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on January 29th, 2021, the woman removed a quantity of personal items belonging to someone known to her without their permission. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On April 6th,2021, she was taken into custody during a traffic stop, at which time she was found to be in possession of a quantity of fentanyl and cocaine. She was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
