CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on October 14th, 2021 and charged with criminal harassment. It is alleged between March and October, the man repeatedly contacted a woman whom he had a previous relationship with, despite being warned to stop. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On October 14th, 2021, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 21st, 2021. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Gisele Dumond, 39, of Cornwall was arrested on October 14th, 2021 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the woman failed to attend court on September 14th, 2021 for a theft offence and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On October 14th, 2021, she was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Devon Johnson, 23, of Akwesasne was arrested on October 14th, 2021 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on October 5th, 2021 for operating a motor vehicle while prohibited and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On October 14th, 2021, he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on December 23rd, 2021.

26 CHARGES LAID IN DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INVESTIGATION

Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on October 14th, 2021 and charged with the following:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Domestic assault x 4
  • Assault
  • Assault causing bodily harm x 4
  • Criminal harassment
  • Forcible confinement x 2
  • Domestic mischief x 3
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Cruelty to animals
  • Administer noxious substance
  • Theft under $5000 x 3
  • Uttering threats x 3
  • Breach of probation (for failing to keep the peace)

It is alleged between January and October, the man committed numerous assaults on his girlfriend, including choking her, spitting on her, and assaulting her with a knife. The man is further alleged to have forced the woman to consume a controlled substance and prevented her from leaving the residence. On one occasion, the man is further alleged to have kicked their dog and made threats to cause harm to the animal. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On October 14th, 2021, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

ROBBERY WITH A WEAPON, THREATS, MISCHIEF UNDER $5000, UNAUTHORIZED POSSESSION OF A WEAPON, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Jacob Gagnon, 22, of Cornwall was arrested on October 14th, 2021 and charged with the following:

  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Uttering threats
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Breach of undertaking (for possessing a weapon)

It is alleged on July 12th, 2021, the man assaulted someone known to him with brass knuckles, while demanding money from the victim. He further made threats to kill the victim and damaged several pieces of identification belonging to the individual. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On October 14th, 2021, police located the man and took him into custody. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
