Cornwall, ON – Bartlomiej Szanczuk, 45, of Cornwall was arrested on February 28th, 2022 and charged with possession of a Schedule I substance, being fentanyl. It is alleged on February 20th, 2022, police investigated an impaired driving incident, in which the man was a passenger in a vehicle that was found to have a quantity of fentanyl inside of it. On February 28th, 2022, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on May 12th, 2022.
WARRANTS
Cornwall, ON – John Sawatis, 42, of Cornwall was arrested on February 28th, 2022 on the strength of two warrants. It is alleged on August 24th, 2021, the man failed to attend court for a possession of a Schedule I substance offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. It is further alleged on January 3rd, 2022, the man entered the residence of someone known to him without permission and took a phone from the residence. Police were contacted and another warrant was subsequently issued. On February 28th, 2022, the man was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants and held for a bail hearing.
DRUG WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – On the morning of March 1st, 2022, members of the Cornwall Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police executed a drug warrant in the area of Lefebvre Street and Easton Ave as part of Project Antagonist.
Distraction devices were used and heard; however, no guns were fired. There is no threat to public safety.
