WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Garry Barstch, 49, of Cornwall was arrested on August 5th, 2022 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on July 14th, 2022, the man failed to attend court for a previous fail to attend court offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On August 5th, 2022, he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

FOURTH INDIVIDUAL ARRESTED IN SHOPLIFTING INVESTIGATION

Cornwall, ON – Further to multiple arrests made on August 3rd, 2022, a fourth individual has been taken into custody in relation to an ongoing shoplifting investigation. A 12-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on August 6th, 2022 and charged with robbery with violence and theft under $5000. It is alleged on July 9th, 2022, the youth, along with three others, attended a Second Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as they left the store.

It is further alleged on July 14th, 2022, the youth and two of the individuals re-attended the business and removed merchandise without making any attempt to pay for the items. They were stopped by an employee who they assaulted before exiting the business. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On August 6th, 2022, the youth attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. The name of the youth was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

WARRANT, THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Braydon Barilko, 21, of Cornwall was arrested on August 7th, 2022 on the strength of a warrant for breaching his conditional sentence order. He was also charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on July 24th, 2022, the man attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as he left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On August 7th, 2022, police located the man while dealing with an unrelated matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Justin Pawis-Lepage, 30, of Ottawa was arrested on August 7th, 2022 and charged with breach of release order for failing to remain in his residence and failing to abide by the house rules of that residence. He was also charged with breach of recognizance for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on August 5th, 2022, the man was located outside of his residence, despite his conditions, and an investigation ensued. On August 7th, 2022, he was located during a traffic stop. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
