MAN ARRESTED AND CHARGED FOR HUMAN TRAFFICKING OFFENCES

Cornwall, ON – After an ongoing investigation by the CPS Criminal Investigation Division into human trafficking in the City of Cornwall, a 71-year-old man from Cornwall has been arrested and charged with multiple offences. The man was taken into custody on October 19th, 2022 and charged with the following:

  • Traffick in persons
  • Sexual assault
  • Communicate for purpose of obtaining sexual services
  • Procuring x 2
  • Forcible confinement
  • Voyeurism x 2
  • Extortion

It is alleged between March and July of 2022, the man exercised control over aspects of a woman’s life, prevented her from leaving his residence, and induced her with threats and violence to perform sexual services. On October 19th, 2022, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

Signs of human trafficking can include:

  • Exhibiting a sudden change in behaviour
  • Rarely responding to phone calls and/or messages and disappearing for long periods of time
  • Withdrawing from family and friends
  • Frequently changing addresses
  • Showing signs of malnourishment and being overworked
  • Not having control over their own money and cell phone
  • Displaying signs of abuse, such as bruising and injuries

SEXUAL ASSAULT ON A PERSON UNDER 16 YEARS OF AGE, SEXUAL INTERFERENCE, SEXUAL EXPLOITATION

Cornwall, ON – A 60-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on October 19th, 2022 and charged with the following:

  • Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age x 2
  • Sexual interference x 2
  • Sexual exploitation x 2

It is alleged in 2020, the man inappropriately touched two youths known to him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On October 19th, 2022, he attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it may identify the victims in the matter.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – Aimee Parry, 37, of Cornwall was arrested on October 19th, 2022 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on October 12th, the woman attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as she left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On October 19th, 2022, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on November 29th, 2022. 

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on October 19th, 2022 and charged with breach of undertaking. It is alleged on October 15th, the woman had contact with her ex-boyfriend, despite her conditions, and police were contacted to investigate. On October 19th, 2022, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on November 10th, 2022. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – Michael Mantle, 53, of Cornwall was arrested on October 19th, 2022 and charged with mischief. It is alleged the man interfered with the lawful enjoyment of property at a Second Street business, by aggressively yelling and screaming. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On October 19th, 2022, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

IMPAIRED BY DRUG, POSSESSION OF A SCHEDULE I SUBSTANCE X 2

Cornwall, ON – Allison Taylor-Lauzon, 22, of Lancaster was arrested on October 19th, 2022 and charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drug, and two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance, being fentanyl and cocaine. It is alleged during a traffic stop, the woman was found to be operating a motor vehicle while impaired and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, at which time she was found to be in possession of a quantity of fentanyl and cocaine. She was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on November 24th, 2022.
