POLICE SEIZE OVER $40,000 IN DRUGS AND CURRENCY

Cornwall, ON – As a result of a traffic stop by members of the Community Patrol Division during the early morning hours on January 12th, 2023, two individuals were taken into custody and charged as follows:

Katherine Heggart-Richer, 29, of Cornwall:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Oxycodone x 2
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cannabis
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Hamade Rahmou, 23, of no-fixed-address:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Oxycodone x 2
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cannabis
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

It is alleged during a traffic stop in the area of Water Street and Augustus Street, the man and woman were found to be in possession of a quantity of illegal cannabis. An investigation ensued and the man and woman were further found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine, oxycodone, a hatchet, as well as a quantity of Canadian currency. The estimated value of the seized drugs and currency is approximately $41, 000.00. During the investigation, both individuals were taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

BREAK AND ENTER, MISCHIEF OVER $5000

Cornwall, ON – Dustin George, 33, of Akwesasne was arrested on January 12th, 2023 and charged with break and enter, as well as mischief over $5000. It is alleged on May 20th, 2022, the man entered a boat that did not belong to him in the area of 200 Water Street and caused numerous damages to the boat. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On January 12th, 2023, a member of the Cornwall Police Service attended the courthouse as the man was in custody on an unrelated matter. He was charged accordingly and remained in custody to await a bail hearing.

FAIL TO ATTEND FOR FINGERPRINTS

Cornwall, ON – Megan Julien, 25, of Cornwall was arrested on January 12th, 2023 and charged with failing to attend for fingerprints. It is alleged on December 16th, 2022, the woman failed to attend police headquarters for fingerprints and an investigation ensued. On January 12th, 2023, she attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 23rd, 2023.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 25-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on January 13th, 2023 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged during an altercation with his ex-girlfriend on October 3rd, 2022, the man damaged a television in the residence and made threats to further damage her property. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On January 13th, 2023, he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
