BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 23-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 17th, 2023 and charged with breach of recognizance for contacting his ex-girlfriend and failing to keep the peace. He was also charged with breach of undertaking for contacting his ex-girlfriend. It is alleged on February 17th, the man contacted his ex-girlfriend, despite his conditions, and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old Akwesasne man was arrested on February 18th, 2023 and charged with the following:

  • Breach of release order (for contacting his ex-girlfriend, failing to remain in his residence and consuming alcohol)
  • Breach of probation order (for failing to keep the peace)

It is alleged between January 17 and January 20th, 2023, the man had contacted his ex-girlfriend and attended her residence, despite his conditions. On February 18th, 2023, police located the man outside of his residence and consuming alcohol. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter. 

FAIL TO ATTEND FOR FINGERPRINTS

Cornwall, ON – Ethan Roy, 22, of Cornwall was arrested on February 18th, 2023 and charged with failing to attend for fingerprints. It is alleged on February 6th, 2023, the man failed to attend police headquarters for fingerprints and an investigation ensued. On February 18th, 2023, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 6th, 2023.

FRAUD UNDER $5000 X 9, OBTAIN CREDIT BY FALSE PRETENCES OR FRAUD X 9, THEFT UNDER $5000 X 2

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on February 18th, 2023 and charged with 9 counts of fraud under $5000, 9 counts of obtain credit by false pretences or fraud and two counts of theft under $5000. It is alleged between January and February 2023, the youth took a quantity of gift cards from his place of work and activated them, making no attempt to pay for the gift cards on any occasion. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On February 18th, 2023, the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. The name of the youth was not released as it is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

DANGEROUS OPERATION

Cornwall, ON – Kirk Beckstead, 30, of Cornwall was arrested on February 19th, 2023 and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. It is alleged the man was operating a motor vehicle in a dangerous manner in the area of First Street and McConnell Avenue. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, MISCHIEF, RESIST POLICE

Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 19th, 2023 and charged with domestic assault, mischief and resist police. It is alleged during an altercation with his girlfriend on February 19th, the man assaulted her and damaged a railing at her residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody after resisting arrest. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Krista Reid, 32, of Alexandria was arrested on February 19th, 2023 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the woman failed to attend court for breach offences on February 25th, 2021. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On February 19th, 2023, the woman was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on March 28th, 2023.

TWO YOUTH CHARGED WITH ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old and 14-year-old youth, both from Cornwall, were arrested on February 19th, 2023 and charged with assault. It is alleged on January 31st, 2023, the individuals assaulted a youth who was known to them. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On February 19th, 2023, both youth attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. They were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. Their names are not being released as they are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

IMPAIRED, REFUSAL, DANGEROUS OPERATION, THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on February 21st, 2023 and charged with the following:

  • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle
  • Refusal to comply with demand
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Theft of motor vehicle

It is alleged on February 21st, 2023, the youth had taken a motor vehicle without permission and was operating the vehicle in a dangerous manner and while impaired by alcohol in the area of 1900 Montreal Road. During the investigation, the youth refused to provide a sample of his breath to police. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. The name of the youth was not released as it is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
