MAN CHARGED WITH 20 OFFENCES

Cornwall, ON – Ethan Hemelaar, 18, of Cornwall was arrested on February 28th, 2023 and charged with the following:

  • Robbery with intent
  • Assault with a weapon x 2
  • Assault
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Uttering threats x 2
  • Administer noxious substance x 2
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x 2
  • Carrying a concealed weapon x 2
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking x 2 (methamphetamine and fentanyl)
  • Breach of prohibition order
  • Breach of release order x 3 (for failing to remain in his residence, failing to reside at a certain address and possessing weapons)

It is alleged on February 11th, 2023, the man demanded property from someone known to him, while assaulting the victim. The man further made threats to kill the individual, as well as a second victim, and sprayed both individuals with bear mace. It is further alleged February 12th, 2023, the man threw an object, causing a window to shatter at a residence of someone known to him. On February 28th, 2023, police located the man and took him into custody, at which time he was found to be in possession of a quantity of Fentanyl and methamphetamine, as well as two concealed knives. He was charged accordingly and held in custody to await a bail hearing.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE

Cornwall, ON – Blake Bonnell, 19, of Cornwall was arrested on February 28th, 2023 and charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. It is alleged on February 7th, 2023, during an altercation with someone known to him, the man struck the victim with an edged object, resulting in the victim to require medical attention. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On February 28th, 2023, police located the man and took him into custody. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

MEN FOUND IN POSSESSION OF STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE

Cornwall, ON – Jessie Snider, 37, of Cornwall and Jason Patterson, 51, of Cornwall were both arrested on March 1st, 2023 and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000. It is alleged on March 1st, 2023, the two men were located in a vehicle that had been reported stolen to police. During the investigation, they were taken into custody and charged accordingly.

Jason Patterson was also wanted on the strength of a warrant for failing to attend court on July 12th, 2022. The warrant was executed and he was released to appear in court on April 6th, 2023.

Jessie Snider was also charged as a result of outstanding charges from additional investigations. He was charged with another count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, mischief under $5000 and theft under $5000. It is alleged on December 16th, 2021, the man caused damage to a parked school bus and on May 5th, 2021, took a motorcycle from the residence of someone he did not know. Additionally, on February 13th, 2022, the man took a vehicle that did not belong to him while it was parked at a local business. As a result of these investigations, Jessie Snider was charged accordingly and was held in custody to await a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 45-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on March 1st, 2023 and charged with domestic assault. It is alleged on March 1st, during an altercation with her common-law husband, the woman assaulted him and police were contacted. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 21st, 2023. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Tyana Lalonde, 19, of Cornwall was arrested on March 1st, 2023 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the woman failed to attend court on January 31st, 2023 for a previous fail to attend court offence and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On March 1st, 2023, she was taken into custody, at which time the warrant was executed. She was released to appear in court on April 20th, 2023.

ADMINISTER NOXIOUS SUBSTANCE, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Joseph Lepage, 37, of Cornwall was arrested on March 1st, 2023 and charged with the following:

  • Administer noxious substance
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Breach of release order (for possessing a weapon and failing to report to his bail supervision program)

It is alleged during an altercation with someone known to him, the man sprayed the individual with bear spray and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE, CARRYING A CONCEALED WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, ASSAULT POLICE WITH A WEAPON, RESIST POLICE, DISARM POLICE, POSSESSION OF A SCHEDULE I SUBSTANCE X 2

Cornwall, ON – Paul Elliot, 46, of Cornwall was arrested on March 2nd, 2023 and charged with the following:

  • Robbery with violence
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Assault a police officer with a weapon
  • Resist police
  • Disarm police
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance x 2 (Fentanyl and Methamphetamine)

It is alleged on February 2nd, 2023, the man attended a Cornwall Square business and removed merchandise, without making any attempt to pay for the item, and when confronted, threatened violence with a hammer in order to flee the area. On March 2nd, 2023, police located the man and while being taken into custody, a struggle ensued, at which time the man assaulted a police officer with an object, attempted to disarm the officer and resisted arrest. He was subsequently taken into custody and found to be in possession of Fentanyl and Methamphetamine. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

THREATS, BREACH, FAIL TO ATTEND FOR FINGERPRINTS

Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 2nd, 2023 and charged with uttering threats and four counts of breach of release order for contacting his ex-girlfriend, being within a certain distance of her and attending her residence. It is alleged between February 15-16, 2023, the man made threats to kill his ex-girlfriend. The man also failed to attend police headquarters for fingerprints on December 15th, 2022. It is further alleged on March 2nd, 2023, the man attended his ex-girlfriend’s residence and an altercation ensued, resulting in police being contacted. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

POSSESSION OF PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME

Cornwall, ON – Lakota Fenn-Raposo, 19, of Cornwall was arrested on March 2nd, 2023 and charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5000. It is alleged on March 2nd, 2023, the man was located operating a motor vehicle that had a stolen licence plate. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 6th, 2023.
