Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 16th, 2023 and charged with sexual assault. It is alleged in September 2022, the man sexually assaulted a woman known to him and police were contacted to investigate. On May 16th, 2023, he attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 20th, 2023. His name was not released as it may identify the victim in the matter.
ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, THREATS
Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on May 16th, 2023 and charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats. It is alleged on May 16th, the youth assaulted someone known to him with a broom and made threats to kill the person. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. The name of the youth was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – Jody Burgess, 54, of Cornwall was arrested on May 16th, 2023 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on February 14th, 2023 for a theft offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On May 16th, 2023, he attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on June 29th, 2023.
WARRANTS
Cornwall, ON – Laura Buckley, 25, of Cornwall was arrested on May 16th, 2023 on the strength of two warrants. It is alleged the woman failed to attend court on April 20th, 2023 and May 4th, 2023 and warrants were subsequently issued for her arrest. On May 16th, 2023, she was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants and released to appear in court on June 20th, 2023.
CRUELTY TO ANIMALS – CAUSE UNNECESSARY PAIN, SUFFERING OR INJURY, INJURING ANIMALS
Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on May 16th, 2023 and charged with cruelty to animals and injuring animals. It is alleged on May 14th, the youth willfully caused suffering and injuries to two cats in his residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On May 16th, 2023, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – Jason Patterson, 51, of Cornwall was arrested on May 17th, 2023 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on April 6th, 2023 for a previous fail to attend court offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On May 17th, 2023, he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.
WARRANTS, PERSONATE POLICE, BREAK AND ENTER x 2, DANGEROUS OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE, FLIGHT FROM POLICE, POSSESSION OF PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME, BREACH, PERSONATION, RESIST ARREST
Cornwall, ON – Mark Jodoin, 48, of Cornwall was arrested on May 17th, 2023 on the strength of four warrants. He was also charged with the following:
- Personate police officer
- Break and enter x 2
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Flight from police
- Possession of property obtained by crime
- Resist arrest
- Personation
- Breach of probation x 6 (for possessing weapons and failing to keep the peace)
It is alleged between April and May, the man entered six homes without permission and removed a quantity of household items. In one of the incidents, the man breached the door of the residence and identified as police. The man also failed to attend for fingerprints on March 22nd, 2023 and failed to attend court on April 6th, 2023. Police were contacted and warrants were issued for his arrest. It is further alleged on July 27, 2022 the man had been operating a motor vehicle in a dangerous manner and fled from police, despite police activating emergency lights.
On May 17th, 2023, police located the man and found him in possession of a stolen bike and a knife. During the investigation, the man identified as someone else to police and further resisted arrest. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
WARRANT, POSSESSION OF COCAINE
Cornwall, ON – Timothy Doiron-Thompson, 21, of Cornwall was arrested on May 17th, 2023 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on April 20th, 2023 for a previous fail to attend court offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On May 17th, 2023, he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant, at which time he was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 20th, 2023.
POSSESSION OF A SCHEDULE I SUBSTANCE FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRAFFICKING, BREACH
Cornwall, ON – Brittany Howard-Markell, 31, of Cornwall was arrested on May 17th, 2023 and charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, breach of release order for failing to remain in her residence, as well as breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on May 17th, 2023, the woman had left her residence, despite her conditions, and police were contacted. Police located the woman shortly thereafter and took her into custody, at which time she was found to be in possession of a quantity of fentanyl. She was held in custody to await a bail hearing.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT, ASSAULT POLICE
Cornwall, ON – A 50-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 17th, 2023 and charged with domestic assault and assault police. It is alleged on May 17th, during an altercation with his ex-girlfriend, the man assaulted her and police were contacted. During the investigation, the man refused to drop a chainsaw that he was holding and pointed it in the direction of a police officer. He was subsequently taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
WARRANTS
Cornwall, ON – Joseph Hebert, 33, of Cornwall was arrested on May 17th, 2023 on the strength of three warrants. It is alleged on December 12, 2022, the man failed to attend police headquarters for fingerprints. It is further alleged in March 2023, the man failed to report to his bail supervision as per his conditions and failed to attend court on January 4th, 2023. Police were contacted and warrants were issued for his arrest. On May 17th, 2023, he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants and held for a bail hearing.
