WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Bilal Al-Jassem, 20, of St. Jacobs, ON was arrested on May 19th, 2023 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on May 4th, 2023, the man failed to attend court for a fraud offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On May 19th, 2023, he attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Karl Paschek, 42, of Cornwall was arrested on May 20th, 2023 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged on May 20th, the man was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol in the area of Helen Street and McConnell Avenue when the vehicle struck a fire truck. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 20th, 2023.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – Vasile Constantinescu, 27, and Maria Transasir, 20, both of Scarborough, ON were arrested on May 20th, 2023 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on May 20th, the two individuals attended a Second Street East business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as they left the store. They were stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, they were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 20th, 2023.

THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 61-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on May 20th, 2023 and charged with uttering threats. It is alleged on May 14th, the man made threats to harm his ex-son-in-law and police were contacted to investigate. On May 20th, 2023, the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 20th, 2023. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – Jordan Oakes, 42, of St. Regis, QC was arrested on May 21st, 2023 and charged with two counts of assault. It is alleged on May 21st, during an altercation with two individuals unknown to him, he assaulted the parties and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 20th, 2023.

WARRANTS

Cornwall, ON – Emily Baker, 26, of Cornwall was arrested on May 21st, 2023 on the strength of multiple warrants. It is alleged on three occasions between September and December 2022, the woman failed to attend court for previous offences. It is further alleged in October 2022, the woman failed to abide by the conditions of her release order by failing to remain in her residence and failing to reside with her surety. Police were contacted and warrants were issued for her arrest. On May 21st, 2023, she was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – Mackenzie Gervais, 27, of Cornwall was arrested on May 21st, 2023 and charged with assault. It is alleged during an altercation with someone known to him on May 21st, he assaulted the person and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 20th, 2023.

WARRANT, THEFT UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – Dean McLaughlin was arrested on May 21st, 2023 on the strength of a warrant. He was also charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on May 11th, 2023, the man had attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as he left the store. It is further alleged on May 18th, 2023, the man failed to attend court for a previous fail to attend court offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On May 21st, 2023, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANTS, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 42-year-old man of Akwesasne was arrested on May 22nd, 2023 on the strength of two warrants. He was also charged with four counts of breach of release order for contacting his ex-girlfriend, being within 100 metres of her, failing to reside at a certain address and failing to notify a change of address to police. It is alleged while stopped at the Canadian Port of Entry on May 22nd, 2023, the man was observed to be in the company of his ex-girlfriend, despite his conditions, and police were contacted. It is further alleged the man had failed to attend court on July 20th, 2021 and had committed a theft offence on July 22, 2022, in which warrants were subsequently issued for his arrest. On May 22nd, 2023, he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name is not being released as the conditions stem from a domestic occurrence and would identify the victim in the matter.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Joel Bissonnette, 25, of Cornwall was arrested on May 22nd, 2023 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged on May 22nd, 2023, the man was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol in the area of Ninth Street and Cumberland Street when his vehicle struck another vehicle and police were contacted. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 6th, 2023.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Tyler Renshaw-Smith, 29, of Cornwall was arrested on May 23rd, 2023 and charged with breach of release order for failing to abide by his curfew. It is alleged during the early morning hours on May 23rd, the man was observed by police away from his residence, despite his conditions. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
