WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 56-year-old Alexandria woman was arrested on June 8th, 2023 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on March 6th, 2023, the woman failed to attend court for a domestic breach offence and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On June 8th, 2023, she was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on July 13th, 2023. Her name was not released as the incident stems from a domestic occurrence and would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT, DOMESTIC BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on June 8th, 2023 on the strength of a warrant for breaching his probation order. He was also charged with domestic mischief. It is alleged during an altercation with his ex-girlfriend on June 7th, 2023, the man damaged the door at her residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On June 8th, 2023, he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 27th, 2023. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – Ryan Lafave, 33, of Cornwall was arrested on June 9th, 2023 and charged with assault. It is alleged during an altercation with someone known to him on March 4th, 2023, he struck the victim and police were contacted to investigate. On June 9th, 2023, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 18th, 2023.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, THREATS, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Evan Mackay, 24, of Cornwall was arrested on June 9th, 2023 and charged with the following:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Uttering threats
  • Breach of recognizance x 2 (for failing to keep the peace and possessing a weapon)
  • Breach of release order x 3 (for possessing a weapon, failing to remain in his residence, and accessing the internet)

It is alleged on May 6th, the man shot at someone known to him with a BB gun and further made threats to harm the person. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On June 9th, 2023, he attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Sara Bender, 35, of Cornwall was arrested on June 9th, 2023 and charged with assault and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on June 6th, during an altercation with someone known to her, the woman assaulted the victim and police were contacted. On June 9th, 2023, she attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 13th, 2023.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT X 2, ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM X 3

Cornwall, ON – A 45-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on June 9th, 2023 and charged with two counts of domestic assault, and three counts of assault causing bodily harm. It is alleged between April 2020 and May 2022, the man assaulted his girlfriend, as well as choked her and caused injuries to her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On June 9th, 2023, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 27th, 2023. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

DANGEROUS OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE, FLIGHT FROM POLICE, RESIST POLICE, OBSTRUCT POLICE

Cornwall, ON – Gregory David, 34, of Akwesasne was arrested on June 9th, 2023 and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, resist police, and obstruct police. It is alleged while police were investigating an unrelated matter on June 9th, the man refused to comply with police and fled in a motor vehicle, while operating it in a dangerous capacity. During the investigation, he was eventually located and taken into custody after a brief struggle. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 13th, 2023.

FOUR INDIVIDUALS ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF A STOLEN VEHICLE

Cornwall, ON – Four individuals were taken into custody on June 10th, 2023 after an investigation into a stolen motor vehicle.

It is alleged on June 10th, the following individuals were located in possession of a motor vehicle that had been reported stolen to police. During the investigation, the parties were taken into custody, at which time Zachary Eastman was found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine, and Ryan Whitford was found to be in possession of a knife.

The individuals were charged as follows:

Zachary Eastman, 22, of Chesterville

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance (methamphetamine)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Breach of probation (for failing to keep the peace)

Amanda McCourt, 44, of Cornwall

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

Ryan Whitford, 29, of Cornwall

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Breach of prohibition order
  • Breach of probation order (for possessing a weapon and failing to keep the peace)

Jessica Prunner, 33, of Cornwall

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

Zachary Eastman and Amanda McCourt were released to appear in court on July 18th, 2023. Ryan Whitford and Jessica Prunner were held for a bail hearing.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Candie Kirkey-Hebert, 48, of Martintown was arrested on June 11th, 2023 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged on June 11th, 2023, the woman was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol in the area of Boundary Road and Marleau Avenue. She was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 4th, 2023.

TWO ARRESTED FOR SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – Jennifer Wilson, 47, and Keven Bissonnette, 34, both of Cornwall, were arrested on June 11th, 2023 and charged with theft under $5000. Keven Bissonnette was also charged with breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on June 11th, the individuals attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making not attempt to pay for the merchandise as they left the store. They were stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, they were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 27th, 2023.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Audrey Heggart-Richer, 29, of Kanata was arrested on June 11th, 2023 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on February 14th, 2023, the woman failed to attend court for a drug offence and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On June 11th, 2023, a member of the Cornwall Police Service attended Casselman as the woman had been taken into custody on the strength of Cornwall’s warrant. The warrant was executed and she was held in custody to await a bail hearing.

HARASSING COMMUNICATIONS X 2, OBSTRUCT POLICE, ASSAULT POLICE, CAUSE A DISTURBANCE

Cornwall, ON – A 25-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on June 12th, 2023 and charged with two counts of harassing communications, as well as obstruct police, assault police and cause a disturbance. It is alleged between April 29-30, 2023, the man repeatedly contacted his ex-girlfriend, despite being warned to stop. On June 12th, 2023, police located the man who resisted police, assaulted a police officer and had subsequently caused a disturbance by yelling and screaming. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

MAN ARRESTED FOR FIVE COUNTS OF SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – Mathieu Duplantie, 34, of Cornwall was arrested on June 12th, 2023 and charged with five counts of theft under $5000. It is alleged between June 5-12, 2023, the man attended five local businesses and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as he left the stores on any occasion. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On June 12th, 2023, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
