ARTHUR STREET OPERATION LEADS TO TWO ARRESTS AND NUMEROUS CHARGES

Cornwall, ON – As a result of an ongoing investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, on the morning of June 27th, 2023, members of the Cornwall Police Service executed a search warrant at an Arthur Street residence. It is alleged during a search of the residence, police located a quantity of items, primarily tools, that had been reported stolen to police in a number of break and enter investigations throughout Cornwall between May 29 and June 26. Since June 27th, the CPS has been successful in returning much of the recovered stolen property to the rightful owners.

It is further alleged one of the parties had been observed operating a motor vehicle on June 22nd, 2023, despite having five orders prohibiting him from doing so.

During the investigation on June 27th, 2023, the following individuals were taken into custody and charged accordingly:

Scott Robinson, 27, of Cornwall:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime x 6
  • Operation while prohibited x5
  • Breach of prohibition order x 2

Cameron Malenfant, 23, of Cornwall:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime x 6

Scott Robinson was held in custody to await a bail hearing and Cameron Malenfant was released to appear in court on August 10th, 2023.

IMPAIRED

Cornwall, ON – Nikki Scharf, 32, of Cornwall was arrested on June 27th, 2023 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle. It is alleged on June 27th, 2023, the woman was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drug and police were contacted. During the investigation she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 18th, 2023.

WARRANT, THEFT UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – Kayla Harps, 32, of Cornwall was arrested on June 27th, 2023 on the strength of a warrant. She was also charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on March 1st, 2023, the woman failed to attend court for a previous fail to attend court offence and a warrant was issued for her arrest. It is further alleged on June 27th, 2023, the woman attended a Second Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as she left the store. She was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

SIU INVESTIGATION

Cornwall, ON – On June 27th, 2023, while police were conducting an investigation, a male party who was subsequently arrested, sustained an injury that required medical attention.

The CPS subsequently notified the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).
