Cornwall, ON – Curtis Trudeau, 31, of Cornwall was arrested on July 6th, 2023, and charged with two counts of uttering threats. It is alleged on July 6th, the man made threats to harm two employees at a Ninth Street business. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on August 1st, 2023.
IMPAIRED, OVER 80
Cornwall, ON – Jean Paul Mondoux, 20, of Cornwall was arrested on July 6th, 2023 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged on July 6th, 2023, the man was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol in the area of Power Dam Drive and Vincent Massey Drive. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 27th, 2023.
BREACH
Cornwall, ON – Cortlon Skidders, 25, of Ottawa was arrested on July 7th, 2023 and charged with three counts of breach of release order for attending the City of Cornwall, failing to reside at a certain address and failing to participate in a prescribed program per his conditions. It is alleged on July 7th, 2023, the man was observed to be breaching his conditions and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
CRIMINAL HARASSMENT
Cornwall, ON – A 25-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 7th, 2023 and charged with criminal harassment. It is alleged between June 24 and July 5, 2023, the man repeatedly contacted his ex-girlfriend and police were contacted. On July 7th, 2023, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 25th, 2023. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
WARRANTS
Cornwall, ON – Krista Grant, 34, of Ottawa was arrested on July 7th, 2023 on the strength of multiple warrants. It is alleged on September 29th, 2022 and October 3, 2022, the woman failed to attend court for several previous offences and warrants were issued for her arrest. On July 7th, 2023, she was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants and held for a bail hearing.
BREAK AND ENTER, MISCHIEF, ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – Dustin O’Byrne, 28, of Cornwall was arrested on July 7th, 2023 and charged with break and enter, mischief under $5000 and assault. It is alleged on July 7th, the man forced his way into the residence of someone known to him, where he assaulted the victim and damaged various walls in the residence. Police were contacted and took the man into custody. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on August 15th, 2023.
POSSESSION OF A SCHEDULE I SUBSTANCE FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRAFFICKING, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE, POSSESSION OF PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME, BREACH
Cornwall, ON – Shawnna Chartrand, 30, of Cornwall was arrested on July 7th, 2023, and charged with the following:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Fentanyl)
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of property obtained by crime
- Breach of prohibition order
- Breach of probation order (for possessing a weapon and failing to keep the peace)
It is alleged on June 26th, 2023, while police were investigating an unrelated matter, the woman was found to be in possession of a quantity of fentanyl, a replica handgun and a quantity of Canadian and U.S. currency. On July 7th, 2023, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on August 15th, 2023.
SHOPLIFTING, BREACH
Cornwall, ON – Jacob Benoit, 24, of Cornwall was arrested on July 8th, 2023 and charged with theft under $5000 and two counts of breach of probation for attending a certain business and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on July 7th, 2023, the man attended a Second Street business, despite his conditions, and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the merchandise as he left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On July 8th, 2023, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on August 10th, 2023.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT, THREATS X 2, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON
Cornwall, ON – A 48-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 8th, 2023 and charged with two counts of uttering threats, as well as domestic assault and assault with a weapon. It is alleged during an altercation with his wife on July 8th, the man struck her with a mug and made threats to harm her. It is further alleged the man had previously assaulted the woman and threatened to kill her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On July 8th, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 25th, 2023. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT, HARASSING COMMUNICATIONS, BREACH
Cornwall, ON – A 30-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 9th, 2023 and charged with domestic assault, harassing communications, as well as breach of probation and breach of recognizance for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on June 17th, during an altercation with his girlfriend, the man assaulted her and police were contacted. It is further alleged on June 18th, the man repeatedly contacted her. On July 9th, 2023, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
UTTERING THREATS, BREACH
Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on July 9th, 2023, and charged with uttering threats and breach of undertaking for contacting a certain person and being within a certain distance of them. It is alleged on July 9th, the youth was in the company of someone he has conditions to not contact or be around, and subsequently made threats to harm the person. Police were contacted and took the youth into custody. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
SHOOTING INVESTIGATION
Cornwall, ON - On Saturday, July 8, 2023 at approximately 8:20 pm, the Cornwall Police Service (CPS) responded to a disturbance in the area of Fourteenth Street West and Vincent Massey Drive.
The CPS can confirm that an altercation ensued between two motorcycle gangs, known as the Outlaws and the Loners, in the parking lot of the business complex located in the 700 block of Fourteenth Street West. During the altercation, two individuals involved sustained stab wounds and one individual involved sustained a wound from being shot. The three individuals were transported to the hospital and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation, five individuals have been taken into custody and charged accordingly. Further details on these arrests and subsequent charges will be shared at a later time.
Police believe this to be a targeted incident between the specified motorcycle gangs. The safety of our community remains a top priority for the CPS and we are continuing to work closely with our law enforcement partners to investigate.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing. The CPS is asking for members of the public who witnessed the incident or who may have video surveillance captured of the incident to please contact Detective Sergeant Mark Anderson by calling 613-933-5000 ext. 2603.
