TWO MEN CHARGED IN ROBBERY INVESTIGATION

Cornwall, ON – Two individuals have been arrested after an ongoing investigation into a robbery that occurred on May 31st, 2023. It is alleged on May 31st, 2023, two men assaulted someone known to them, causing injuries that required medical attention. During the assault, the men brandished a firearm and an edged weapon to the victim while taking some of the victim’s property.

As a result of the investigation, the following individuals were taken into custody and held for respective bail hearings:

Gabriel Manigat, 23, of Cornwall:

  • Robbery with violence
  • Robbery using a firearm
  • Aggravated assault
  • Uttering threats
  • Use of firearm while committing an offence
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x 2
  • Careless use of firearm
  • Breach of prohibition order
  • Breach of probation order (for failing to keep the peace)
  • Breach of release order (for possessing a weapon)

Jamie Walker, 47, of Cornwall:

  • Robbery using a firearm
  • Aggravated assault
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x 2
  • Uttering threats
  • Use of firearm while committing an offence
  • Careless use of firearm

IMPAIRED, OVER 80, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Sukhman Sandhu, 20, of Cornwall was arrested on August 18th, 2023 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, over 80, as well as two counts of breach of release order for operating a motor vehicle, as well as leaving his house with alcohol in his body. It is alleged during the early morning hours on August 18th, the man was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and was in breach of his conditions. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Jordan Martin-Thompson, 31, of York, ON was arrested on August 19th, 2023 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged on August 19th, the man was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol in the area of Carleton Street and Walton Street. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 7th, 2023.

BREAK AND ENTER, MISCHIEF UNDER $5000, PERSONATION WITH INTENT TO AVOID ARREST, OBSTRUCT POLICE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Scott Young, 46, of Renfew, ON was arrested on August 19th, 2023 and charged with the following:

  • Break and enter
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Personation with intent to avoid arrest
  • Obstruct police
  • Breach of release order (for failing to reside at a certain address)

It is alleged between August 18-19, the man had entered the residence of someone he did not know and caused damages to the ceiling and walls. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the man provided a false name to police. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

UTTERING THREATS, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on August 19th, 2023 and charged with uttering threats, as well as five counts of breach of probation for contacting her sister, her sister’s boyfriend, being within a certain distance of them and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on August 11th, the woman attended her sister’s residence, despite her conditions, and made threats to kill her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On August 19th, 2023, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 21st, 2023. Her name was not released as it would identify the victims in the matter.

DOMESTIC MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 21-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on August 19th, 2023 and charged with domestic mischief. It is alleged during an altercation with his girlfriend on August 19th, the man damaged a table in the residence and police were contacted. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 19th, 2023. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on August 19th, 2023 and charged with assault with a weapon. It is alleged during an altercation with her boyfriend, the woman threw a cup at the man and police were contacted. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 5th, 2023. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, OBSTRUCT POLICE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on August 20th, 2023 and charged with the following:

  • Domestic assault
  • Obstruct police
  • Breach of undertaking x 2 (for contacting his ex-girlfriend)
  • Breach of probation order (for failing to keep the peace)

It is alleged on August 17th, the man was in the company of his ex-girlfriend, despite his conditions, and subsequently assaulted her during an altercation. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On August 20th, police located the man, who was once again in the company of his ex-girlfriend. The man attempted to flee from police and was taken into custody after a brief foot chase. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
