FAIL TO COMPLY, IDENTITY THEFT, PERSONATION WITH INTENT, OBSTRUCT PEACE OFFICER
Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-old man from Pierrefonds, QC, was arrested on Jan. 15, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Fail to comply with release order
- Identity theft – obtain or possess another person’s identity information
- Personation with intent
- Obstruct peace officer
On Jan. 15, 2026, Cornwall Police Service detectives were alerted to a male at a local bank attempting to open a fraudulent account. An investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not possess any bank documents except in his name. It is further alleged the man was in possession of another individual’s personal information, fraudulently personated another individual for monetary gain and gave police officers a false name. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING, PERSONATION WITH INTENT TO AVOID ARREST
Cornwall, ON – A 39-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 15, 2026, on the strength of outstanding warrants and additionally charged with the following:
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Fail to comply with undertaking
- Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting
- Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice (identity fraud)
It is alleged on Nov. 18, 2025, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest on the charge of fail to attend court after having appeared. It is also alleged on Jan. 12, 2026, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A second warrant was issued for her arrest on the charge of fail to attend court after having appeared.
It is further alleged on Jan. 15, 2026, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, as well as an undertaking with the relevant condition to not attend a specific Ninth Street East business. It is also alleged on this date, the woman attended the Ninth Street East business she was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. She was taken into custody by the Loss Prevention Officer at the business and allegedly personated another individual with intent to avoid arrest. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The warrants were executed, the woman was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
FAIL TO COMPLY PUBLICATION BAN
Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old man from Kingston, ON, was arrested on Jan. 15, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with publication ban. It is alleged on April 23, 2025, the man unlawfully published information that could identify a complainant. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, a CPS officer developed reasonable and probable grounds for the man’s arrest. On Jan. 15, 2026, he attended police headquarters to address the matter. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Feb. 3, 2026.
SHOPLIFTING, ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 50-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 15, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting and assault. It is alleged on Jan. 15, 2026, the man attended a Second Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. It is further alleged he assaulted the Loss Prevention Officer at the business. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was later released to appear in court on Feb. 26, 2026.
