FAIL TO COMPLY, DOMESTIC ASSAULT, ASSAULT PEACE OFFICER

Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 15, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant, and additionally charged with the following:

  • Two counts of fail to comply with probation order
  • Two counts of fail to comply with release order
  • Domestic assault
  • Assault peace officer

It is alleged on July 19, 2025, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, to not contact her ex-boyfriend, to not be within 100 metres of the man and to notify the probation officer of any change of address. She was also bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to not contact her ex-boyfriend and to not be within 100 metres of the man. It is also alleged on July 19, 2025, the woman was in contact with her ex-boyfriend and attended his residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. Further investigation revealed she failed to notify the probation officer of a change of address. As a result, a warrant was issued for the woman’s arrest on the charges of four counts of fail to comply with probation order and one count of fail to comply with release order.

On Jan. 16, 2026, members of the Cornwall Police Service were dispatched to an intimate partner violence call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not contact or communicate with her ex-boyfriend, as well as a release order with the relevant conditions to not contact or communicate with her ex-boyfriend and to not be within 100 metres of any place she knows him to live, work or frequent. It is further alleged the woman was in contact with her ex-boyfriend and assaulted the man. While being taken into custody, it is also alleged the woman kicked a police officer. The warrant was executed, she was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

Cornwall, ON – A 57-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 16, 2026, and charged with three counts of fail to comply with probation order and one count of criminal harassment – repeatedly follow, repeatedly communicate with, watch and beset, threatening conduct. It is alleged on Jan. 16, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, to not contact or communicate with his ex-girlfriend and to not be within 50 metres of any place he knows her to live, work or frequent. It is also alleged on this date, the man was in communication with his ex-girlfriend, harassing the woman by leaving her numerous unwanted voicemails. In the early hours of Jan. 17, 2026, the man was located by members of the CPS. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 17, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with probation order as well as two counts of criminal harassment – repeatedly follow, repeatedly communicate with, watch and beset, threatening conduct. On Jan. 16, 2026, members of the CPS were dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged the man repeatedly engaged in conduct to cause his ex-spouse to fear for her safety. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On Jan. 17, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, DOMESTIC ASSAULT WITH WEAPON, ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM

Cornwall, ON – On Jan. 17, 2026, members of the CPS responded to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. As a result, two individuals were taken into custody:

  • An 87-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested and charged with domestic assault and domestic assault with a weapon.
  • A 78-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested and charged with domestic assault causing bodily harm and domestic assault with a weapon.

It is alleged on Jan. 17, 2026, the man assaulted his spouse and hit the woman with a chair and cane. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

Meanwhile, it is alleged the woman assault her spouse, causing injuries, and assaulted the man with a frying pan. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Feb. 3, 2026.

FAIL TO ATTEND

Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 18, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Nov. 1, 2024, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of fail to attend court after having appeared. In the early morning hours of Jan. 18, 2026, members of the CPS attended a Pitt Street establishment to conduct a routine compliance check. The man was located by a CPS officer during the inquiry. The warrant was executed and he was held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, FAIL TO ATTEND, POSSESSION SCHEDULE I SUBSTANCE FOR PURPOSE OF TRAFFICKING, POSSESSION PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME, OBSTRUCT PEACE OFFICER

Cornwall, ON – A 35-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 18, 2026, on the strength of outstanding warrants and additionally charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Obstruct peace officer

It is alleged on Sept. 12, 2025, the man was bound by two separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, as well as a release order with the relevant condition to report to the CPS and sign in every week. It is further alleged on Sept. 12, 2025, he failed to sign in. As a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charges of two counts of fail to comply with probation order and one count of fail to comply with release order.

It is alleged on Nov. 13, 2025, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A second warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of fail to attend court after having appeared.

In the early morning hours of Jan. 18, 2026, a CPS officer observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of Second Street West, and an investigation ensued. The investigation revealed the man, who was located in the vehicle, was in possession of cocaine and methamphetamine, as well as property obtained by crime. It is also alleged the man refused to comply with the officer’s commands. He was subsequently taken into custody by members of the CPS. The warrants were executed, the man was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 18, 2026, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with undertaking. On Jan. 18, 2026, members of the CPS were dispatched to investigate multiple dropped 9-1-1 calls. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by an undertaking with the relevant conditions to not communicate with his girlfriend and to not go to any place where she may be located. It is further alleged the man was in communication with his girlfriend. He was located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The man was held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 18, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with probation order and theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged in the early morning hours of Jan. 16, 2026, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged she attended a Second Street East business and stole money from a donation box at the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the woman’s arrest. On Jan. 18, 2026, she was located by a CPS officer, who was on general patrol in the City of Cornwall. The woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Feb. 24, 2026.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old individual from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 18, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on Jan. 18, 2026, the individual attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. The individual was apprehended by the Loss Prevention Officer at the business, and police were contacted. The individual was taken into custody by police, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on March 10, 2026.  

FAIL TO COMPLY, DOMESTIC ASSAULT, UTTERING THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 18, 2026, and charged with the following:

  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Domestic assault
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm – domestic

On Jan. 18, 2026, members of the CPS were dispatched to a reported noise disturbance, which was subsequently determined to be an intimate partner violence incident. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to remain in his residence between specific hours. It is further alleged the man breached his curfew conditions, assaulted his girlfriend and threatened the woman. He was located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The man was held for a bail hearing.

CALLS FOR SERVICE: There were 132 calls for service in the City of Cornwall over the weekend (8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. today).
