FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old man from Ottawa was arrested on Jan. 19, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Feb. 24, 2025, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to report to the bail supervisor program and to reside at an address approved by the bail supervisor. It is also alleged the man failed to report to the bail supervisor, and as a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charges of two counts of fail to comply with release order. On Jan. 19, 2026, a Cornwall Police Service officer was dispatched to the courthouse, where the man was in custody. The warrant was executed, and he was returned to cells to await a bail hearing.

UTTERING COUNTERFEIT MONEY

Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old woman from Long Sault was arrested on Jan. 19, 2026, and charged with uttering counterfeit money. It is alleged on Dec. 25, 2025, the woman attended a Thirteenth Street West business, where she completed a purchase using counterfeit money. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the woman’s arrest. On Jan. 19, 2026, she attended police headquarters to address the matter. The woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Feb. 24, 2026.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 60-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 19, 2026, and charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on Nov. 3, 2025, and on Nov. 25, 2025, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store on both occasions without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted, and an investigation ensued. On Jan. 19, 2026, the man was located by a CPS officer, who was on general patrol in the City of Cornwall. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Feb. 24, 2026.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, DOMESTIC ASSAULT WITH WEAPON, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 20, 2026, and charged with the following:

  • Domestic assault
  • Domestic assault with a weapon
  • Mischief under $5,000

In the early morning hours of Jan. 20, 2026, members of the CPS responded to an intimate partner violence call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man punched and kicked his girlfriend, assaulted her with a household item and damaged property in the residence. The man was located by police officers. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
