MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – A 13-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on Nov. 8, 2025, and charged with mischief under $5,000.
On Nov. 7, 2025, at approximately 4:10 p.m., members of the Cornwall Police Service responded to a report of multiple shots fired into a window at a residence on Second Street East. Officers quickly attended and contained the area on Second Street East between Pitt Street and Sydney Street.
Police located damage to multiple windows; however, the investigation determined that no firearms were involved. No injuries occurred as a result of the incident.
Further investigation revealed the youth used a slingshot to fire projectiles into windows, causing damage. Police formed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest.
On Nov. 8, 2025, the youth attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was released to appear in court at a later date.
THEFT, USE OF CREDIT CARD, POSSESSION PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME
Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Nov. 7, 2025, and charged with the following:
- Theft under $5,000
- Four counts of use of credit card
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
On Aug. 16, 2025, a CPS officer responded to a theft complaint, after an individual reported his wallet was stolen overnight from his motor vehicle. An investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman stole the individual’s wallet and subsequently made multiple fraudulent transactions with two separate credit cards.
It is also alleged on Sept. 11, 2025, the woman once again used two credit cards, which were reported stolen from an unlocked motor vehicle. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. Further investigation revealed she was in possession of property obtained by crime.
Police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the woman’s arrest.
On Nov. 7, 2025, she was located at the courthouse. The woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear back in court on Dec. 16, 2025.
WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Nov. 7, 2025, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Oct. 7, 2025, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Nov. 7, 2025, police were dispatched to an unwanted person call, and an investigation ensued. The man was located, and the warrant was executed. He was held for a bail hearing.
FAIL TO COMPLY, CRIMINAL HARASSMENT, DANGEROUS OPERATION, ASSAULT WITH WEAPON
Cornwall, ON – A 23-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Nov. 8, 2025, and charged with the following:
- Three counts of fail to comply with probation order
- Two counts of criminal harassment – repeatedly follow
- Dangerous operation
- Assault with a weapon
On Oct. 17, 2025, police were dispatched to a traffic complaint and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on Oct. 17, 2025, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, to not contact or communicate with an individual known to him and to not be within 100 metres of any place he knows the individual to live, work or frequent. It is further alleged on this date, the man was in contact with the woman and within 100 metres of her. It is further alleged he followed the woman and another individual in his vehicle, travelling at a high rate of speed and attempting to force them off the roadway. Police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the man’s arrest.
On Nov. 8, 2025, he was located by a CPS officer, who was dealing with a separate matter. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
SHOPLIFTING
Cornwall, ON – A 58-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Nov. 8, 2025, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on Nov. 8, 2025, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was released to appear in court on Dec. 16, 2025.
WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – A 41-year-old man from Akwesasne was arrested on Nov. 8, 2025, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Oct. 2, 2025, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Nov. 8, 2025, the man was taken into custody by members of the Canada Border Services Agency and subsequently turned over to the CPS. The warrant was executed, and the man was held for a bail hearing.
SHOPLIFTING
Cornwall, ON – A 50-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Nov. 9, 2025, and charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.
It is alleged on Sept. 18, 2025, the woman attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. It is also alleged on Oct. 22, 2025, the woman attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
As a result of the investigations, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the woman’s arrest.
On Nov. 9, 2025, she was located by a CPS officer, who was dealing with a separate matter. The woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Dec. 16, 2025.
FAIL TO ATTEND
Cornwall, ON – A 60-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Nov. 9, 2025, and charged with fail to comply with appearance notice. It is alleged on Sept. 18, 2025, the man was scheduled to attend police headquarters for fingerprinting and failed to do so. On Nov. 9, 2025, the man was located by a CPS officer. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Dec. 16, 2025.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT, ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM, UTTERING THREATS, POSSESSION OF WEAPON FOR DANGEROUS PURPOSE
Cornwall, ON – A 49-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Nov. 9, 2025, and charged with the following:
- Domestic assault
- Assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm – domestic
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Two counts of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
On Nov. 9, 2025, members of the CPS responded to an intimate partner violence call and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on Nov. 9, 2025, the man assaulted his girlfriend, choked the woman and threatened to kill her. It is also alleged the man made death threats toward the victim’s daughter over the phone. The man was later located by a CPS officer, and further investigation revealed he was in possession of dog spray and a baton. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
CALLS FOR SERVICE: There were 189 calls for service in the City of Cornwall over the weekend (8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. today).
