MONKLAND MAN FACES NUMEROUS CHARGES IN RELATION TO BREAK AND ENTERS; SIU INVOKES MANDATE

Cornwall, ON – A 51-year-old man from Monkland, ON, was arrested on Nov. 13, 2025, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and charged with the following:

  • Five counts of fail to comply with probation order
  • Four counts of fail to comply with release order
  • Five counts of operation while prohibited
  • Three counts of break and enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence
  • Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting
  • Possession break-in instruments
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Resist a peace officer
  • Assault a peace officer

On Sept. 25, 2025, members of the Cornwall Police Service were dispatched to a break and enter. It is alleged on this date, the man broke into a residence and stole several items. As a result of the investigation, police formed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest.

On Nov. 9, 2025, members of the CPS responded to multiple break and enter complaints, both commercial and residential. It is alleged on this date, the man broke into – and stole from – several residences and businesses. Investigators determined these occurrences were linked to the above incident. As a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

It is further alleged the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour as well as a release order with the relevant condition to remain on his property at all times. He was additionally bound by two separate driving prohibitions when the offences occurred.

On Nov. 13, 2025, police initiating proactive measures to ascertain the individual’s whereabouts. The man was subsequently located by police and the investigation revealed he was in possession of stolen property, as well as several break-in instruments. Finally, it is alleged the man resisted arrest and assaulted a police officer. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

While being taken into custody, the man sustained injuries that required medical attention. The CPS subsequently notified the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), which invoked its mandate.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 48-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Nov. 19, 2025, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on Oct. 27, 2025, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, a Community Safety Officer developed reasonable and probable grounds for the man’s arrest. On Nov. 19, 2025, he was located by a CPS officer, who was dealing with an unrelated matter. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Dec. 30, 2025.  

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 43-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Nov. 19, 2025, and charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

It is alleged on Oct. 28, 2025, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items.

It is also alleged on Nov. 2, 2025, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items.

Police were contacted after each incident, and an investigation ensued. As a result, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the man’s arrest. On Nov. 19, 2025, he attended police headquarters for an unrelated matter. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Dec. 30, 2025

DANGEROUS OPERATION, IMPAIRED OPERATION, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – A 61-year-old man from Williamstown, ON, was arrested on Nov. 19, 2025, and charged with the following:

  • Dangerous operation
  • Operation while impaired
  • Over 80

On Nov. 19, 2025, CPS officers were dispatched to the area of Marleau Avenue for a possible impaired driver, and an investigation ensued. The driver was subsequently located by police after a motor vehicle collision had occurred. The investigation determined the man was operating his vehicle in a dangerous manner and was impaired by alcohol. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Dec. 11, 2025.

CALLS FOR SERVICE: There were 69 calls for service in the City of Cornwall over the last 24 hours (8 a.m. yesterday to 8 a.m. today).
