Cornwall, ON – A 20-year-old man from Laval, QC, was arrested on Oct. 29, 2025, and charged with the following:

  • Three counts of luring a person under 18 years of age by means of telecommunication
  • Possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material
  • Makes, prints, publishes or possesses for the purpose of publication of any child sexual abuse and exploitation material

On July 11, 2025, a Cornwall Police Service officer was dispatched to a complaint of sextortion, and an investigation ensued.

The investigation revealed the man connected with the youth through a social media platform that facilitates random video and text chats with strangers. Over the course of several online interactions, through multiple social media platforms, the male coerced the youth into engaging in sexual acts that he recorded without the youth’s knowledge or consent. The man then repeatedly threatened to expose the photographs/videos to the youth’s family, friends and school community if they did not comply with his ongoing requests to engage in online sexual activity. The harassment only ended once the youth reported the matter to the authorities.

As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the man’s arrest. On Oct. 29, 2025, members of the CPS located the man in Laval, QC. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing in Cornwall.

ONLINE SEXTORTION: Online sextortion is a serious cybercrime where someone threatens to share private or sexual images or videos of a person unless they send more images, money or perform sexual acts. Offenders may pose as peers, friends or even romantic interests online – often through social media, gaming platforms or messaging applications.

REMEMBER: If someone threatens you online, don’t pay, don’t comply and don’t be silent. You are not alone – help is available, and law enforcement takes this seriously.
