SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 62-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 12, 2025, and charged with six counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged:

  • On Aug. 7, 2025, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
  • On Aug. 8, 2025, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
  • On Aug. 14, 2025, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
  • On Aug. 19, 2025, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
  • On Aug. 22, 2025, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.
  • On Aug. 24, 2025, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.

On Sept. 3, 2025, the Cornwall Police Service asked for public assistance on social media to help identify the individual. As the investigation continued, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for the man’s arrest. On Sept. 12, 2025, he attended police headquarters to address the matters. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Oct. 16, 2025.  

UTTERING THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old youth was arrested on Sept. 12, 2025, and charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged on Sept. 8, 2025, the youth uttered death threats to an individual known to him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Sept. 12, 2025, the youth attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was released to appear in court at a later date.

FAIL TO COMPLY, BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 12, 2025, and charged with the following:

  • Six counts of fail to comply with probation order
  • Three counts of breach of recognizance
  • Three counts of fail to comply with release order
  • Three counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting

It is alleged on May 29, 2025, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not attend a specific Ninth Street West business. She was also bound by a recognizance with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, as well as a release order with the relevant condition to remain in her residence at all times. Furthermore, it is alleged on this date, the woman attended a Ninth Street West business she was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued.

It is also alleged on June 17, 2025, and June 20, 2025, the woman was once again bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not attend a specific Ninth Street West business. She was also bound by a recognizance with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, as well as a release order with the relevant condition to remain in her residence at all times. Furthermore, it is alleged on each of these dates, the woman attended another Ninth Street West business she was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise and left the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and investigations ensued.

As a result of the investigation, officers developed reasonable and probable grounds for the woman’s arrest. On Sept. 12, 2025, a CPS officer was dispatched to the courthouse to arrest the woman on the above-mentioned charges. She was charged accordingly and returned to courts to await a bail hearing.

MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 40-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 12, 2025, and charged with three counts of mischief under $5,000. It is alleged on Aug. 15, 2025, Aug. 26, 2025, and Sept. 8, 2025, the man spat on his neighbour’s motor vehicle. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Sept. 12, 2025, the man was located by police. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Oct. 21, 2025.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 55-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 12, 2025, and charged with assault. It is alleged on Aug. 30, 2025, the man assaulted an individual known to him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Sept. 12, 2025, the man was located by a CPS officer who was dealing with a separate matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Oct. 21, 2025.

FORCIBLE CONFINEMENT, MISCHIEF, DOMESTIC ASSAULT WITH WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – A 42-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 13, 2025, and charged with the following:

  • Forcible confinement
  • Two counts of mischief – destroys or damages property
  • Domestic assault with a weapon

It is alleged on Sept. 13, 2025, the man prevented his girlfriend from leaving the residence by blocking the exit, destroyed the woman’s property and threw a beverage in her face. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was subsequently located by police. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 58-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 13, 2025, and charged with domestic assault. On Sept. 13, 2025, police responded to an intimate partner violence complaint and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man assaulted his girlfriend. He was located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The man was later released to appear in court on Oct. 14, 2025.  

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 14, 2025, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with probation order. On Sept. 14, 2025, police responded to a suspicious person complaint and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not possess any weapons as defined by the Criminal Code. The man was located by a CPS officer and the investigation revealed he was in possession of an edged weapon. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Oct. 21, 2025.

FAIL TO COMPLY, ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM, UTTERING THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 35-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 14, 2025, and charged with the following:

  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm

It is alleged on Sept. 14, 2025, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, she threatened to assault an individual known to her and subsequently punched and kicked the individual in the face. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The woman was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. She was held for a bail hearing.

CALLS FOR SERVICE: There were 219 calls for service in the City of Cornwall over the weekend (8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. today).
