FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING
Cornwall, ON – A 30-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on April 24, 2026, and charged with 10 counts of fail to comply with probation order and two counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on March 5 and March 15, 2026, the man was bound by two separate probation orders, each with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not attend a specific Second Street East business. He was also bound by a third probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on these dates, the man attended the Second Street East business he was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise and exited the store on each occasion without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On April 24, 2026, members of the Cornwall Police Service were dispatched to an unwanted person complaint, and an investigation ensued. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was held for a bail hearing.
SEXUAL ASSAULT, OVERCOME RESISTANCE
Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old man from Ingleside was arrested on April 24, 2026, and charged with sexual assault and overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle another person. It is alleged on March 19, 2026, the man sexually assaulted and choked a woman known to him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On April 24, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on May 12, 2026.
FAIL TO COMPLY
Cornwall, ON – A 53-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on April 24, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with release order. On April 17, 2026, police responded to a bail violation complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on April 5, 2026, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to not communicate directly or indirectly with his ex-spouse or be within 100 metres of the woman. It is alleged on this date, the man was within 100 metres of his ex-spouse. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On April 24, 2026, the man was located at the courthouse. He was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on May 26, 2026.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 35-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on April 25, 2026, and charged with domestic assault. On April 25, 2026, police responded to an intimate partner violence call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man assaulted his spouse. He was located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The man was held for a bail hearing.
IMPAIRED, OVER 80
Cornwall, ON – A 43-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on April 25, 2026, and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). On April 25, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to the area of Brookdale Avenue for a possible impaired driver, and an investigation ensued. The individual was subsequently located in the area of Ninth street East by an officer, who conducted a traffic stop. The investigation revealed the man was allegedly operating his motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on May 19, 2026.
FAIL TO COMPLY, THEFT, THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE, DANGEROUS OPERATION, FLIGHT FROM PEACE OFFICER
Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on April 26, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and additionally charged with the following:
- Three counts of fail to comply with release order
- Theft under $5,000
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Theft over $5,000 of a motor vehicle
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Dangerous operation
- Flight from peace officer
On April 17, 2026, the youth was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to remain in her residence between the hours of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. It is further alleged she breached the conditions of her curfew. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, a warrant was issued for the youth’s arrest on the charge of fail to comply with release order.
On April 18, 2026, police responded to a missing person complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the youth was once again bound by a release order with the relevant condition to remain in her residence between the hours of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. It is further alleged she stole cash from her mother and breached the conditions of her curfew. As a result of the investigation, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest.
In the early morning hours of April 26, 2026, police responded to a report of a stolen motor vehicle, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the youth was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to remain in her residence daily between the hours of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. and to not operate or have care or control of a motor vehicle. She was also bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to not be in the care and control of a motor vehicle. It is further alleged on this date, the youth stole the motor vehicle of an individual known to her. Later on April 26, 2026, the youth was observed operating the vehicle at an extremely high rate of speed and in a dangerous manner. She was subsequently located by police, and a foot pursuit ensued. The youth was apprehended and taken into custody. She was charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and held for a bail hearing.
MISCHIEF, UTTERING THREATS
Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on April 26, 2026, and charged with mischief under $5,000 and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm – domestic. On April 26, 2026, police were dispatched to an unwanted person complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman attended her ex-spouse’s residence and damaged his property. It is further alleged she uttered threats to cause him bodily harm. The woman was subsequently located by members of the CPS. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on May 26, 2026.
IMPAIRED, OVER 80
Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old man from Akwesasne was arrested on April 26, 2026, and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). On April 26, 2026, police were dispatched to a suspicious person call, and an investigation ensued. The man was located by CPS officers and further investigation revealed he was operating his motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on May 19, 2026.
