FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING
Cornwall, ON – A 51-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on April 27, 2026, and charged with 25 counts of fail to comply with probation order and 11 counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.
It is alleged on Jan. 18, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, he attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest.
It is alleged on Jan. 21, Feb. 4, Feb. 19, Feb. 20 and April 13, 2026, the man was bound by two separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on these dates, he attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store on each occasion without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and investigations ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest.
It is alleged on Jan. 24, Jan. 25, April 14 and March 16, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not attend a specific Ninth Street West business, as well as a second probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on these dates, the man attended the Ninth Street West business he was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise and exited the store on each occasion without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and investigations ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest.
Finally, it is alleged on April 27, 2026, the man was bound by two separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged on this date, he attended another Second Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was taken into custody by the Loss Prevention Officer at the business and subsequently turned over to police. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
FAIL TO COMPLY, MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on April 27, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with undertaking and mischief – destroys or damages property. On April 22, 2026, Cornwall Police Service officers were dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the youth was bound by an undertaking with the relevant condition to not communicate with her boyfriend and to not go within 100 metres of his person, place of residence, employment, school or any place he may be. It is further alleged on this date, the youth was in contact and communication with her boyfriend and damaged his phone. As a result of the investigation, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On April 27, 2026, the youth attended police headquarters for an unrelated matter. She was taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was released to appear in court at a later date.
FAIL TO COMPLY
Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on April 27, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with probation order. On April 27, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to a high school in the City of Cornwall in regard to a trouble with youth complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the youth was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to not possess any weapon. It is further alleged on this date, the youth was in possession of an edged weapon. He was located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was released to appear in court at a later date.
IMPAIRED, OVER 80
Cornwall, ON – A 42-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on April 27, 2026, and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). On April 27, 2026, CPS officers responded to a possible impaired driver in the area of Marlborough Street, and an investigation ensued. The vehicle was subsequently located by a CPS officer, who conducted a traffic stop in the area of Second Street East. The investigation revealed the woman was operating her motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on May 19, 2026.
CRIMINAL HARASSMENT, ATTEMPT OBSTRUCT JUSTICE
Cornwall, ON – A 30-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on April 28, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged in March 2026, the man repeatedly contacted his ex-wife, thereby causing her to fear for her safety, and further attempted to obstruct the course of justice by urging her to withdraw previously laid criminal charges. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, a warrant was issued for the man’s arrest on the charges of criminal harassment – repeatedly communicate and attempt obstruct justice. In the early morning hours of Apri 28, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. The warrant was executed and he was held for a bail hearing.
