ASSAULT, CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

Cornwall, ON – A 59-year-old man from Martintown was arrested on April 28, 2026, and charged with assault and criminal harassment – threatening conduct. On Feb. 17, 2026, police were dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man assaulted his ex-girlfriend and engaged in threatening conduct toward the woman, causing her to fear for her safety. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for his arrest. On April 28, 2026, the man attended the Cornwall Police Service to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 51-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on April 28, 2026, and charged with two counts of fail to comply with probation order and one count of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. On April 28, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to a Second Street East business in relation to a shop theft incident, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on April 25, 2026, the man was bound by two separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, the man attended the Second Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. As a result of the investigation, police developed reasonable and probable grounds to arrest the man, who was already in custody in connection with 11 other shoplifting incidents. He was charged accordingly and returned to cells to await a bail hearing.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – Two 42-year-old women from Cornwall were arrested on April 28, 2026, and each charged with assault. On April 28, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to a neighbour dispute, and an investigation ensued. On this date, an altercation between neighbours occurred during which it is alleged the women assaulted one another. They were located by police, taken into custody and each charged accordingly. The women were released to appear separately in court on June 2, 2026.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 51-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on April 28, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on April 1, 2026, the woman attended a Brookdale Avenue business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Safety Officer. As a result of the investigation, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On April 28, 2026, the woman attended police headquarters to address the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 2, 2026.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old man from Kemptville was arrested on April 29, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Oct. 15, 2025, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Safety Officer. A warrant was subsequently issued for the man’s arrest on the charge of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. In the early morning hours of April 29, 2026, he was located by police, who were dealing with an unrelated matter. The warrant was executed and the man was later released to appear in court on May 4, 2026.
