Media Release - April 7, 2026

FAIL TO COMPLY, FAIL TO ATTEND, UNLAWFULLY IN DWELLING HOUSE, CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on April 2, 2026, on the strength of outstanding warrants and additionally charged with the following:

  • Three counts of fail to comply with probation order
  • Four counts of fail to comply with release order
  • Criminal harassment – repeatedly communicate
  • Unlawfully in dwelling house

It is alleged on Dec. 13, 2025, the man was bound by two separate probation orders, each with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, as well as a release order with the relevant condition to not contact or communicate in any way with his ex-girlfriend. It is further alleged on this date, the man was in communication with his ex-girlfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charges of two counts of fail to comply with probation order and one count of fail to comply with release order.

It is alleged on Jan. 31, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, as well as a release order with the relevant conditions to reside with his surety at a specific address and to remain in his residence at all times. On Jan. 31, 2026, police attempted to locate the man; however, it is alleged he no longer resided at the address on file with his surety. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the charges of two counts of fail to comply with probation order and one count of fail to comply with release order.

It is alleged on March 31, 2026, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of failure to attend court after having appeared.

On April 2, 2026, members of the Cornwall Police Service responded to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, to notify the court or probation officer in advance of any change of address and to live at a place approved by the probation officer. He was also bound by a release order with the relevant conditions to remain with his surety at a specific address, to remain in his residence at all times, to not contact or communicate in any way with his ex-girlfriend and to not be within 100 metres of any place he knows his ex-girlfriend to live, work or frequent. It is further alleged the man repeatedly communicated with his ex-girlfriend and unlawfully entered her residence on April 2, 2026.

The man was subsequently located by CPS officers and taken into custody. The warrants were executed, he was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO COMPLY, UTTERING THREATS, FAIL TO ATTEND

Cornwall, ON – A 38-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on April 2, 2026, on the strength of outstanding warrants.

On Aug. 15, 2025, a CPS officer was dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, to not contact or communicate in any way with his ex-spouse and to not be within 100 metres of her. He was also bound by an undertaking with the relevant conditions to not communicate with his ex-girlfriend and to not be within 100 metres of her. It is alleged from Feb. 20, 2025, to Aug. 15, 2025, the man was in constant contact and communication with his ex-spouse, and it is further alleged on June 22, 2025, he threatened to harm the woman. As a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charges of three counts of fail to comply with probation order, two counts of fail to comply with undertaking and one count of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

It is further alleged from Aug. 28, 2025, to Oct. 10, 2025, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to report to a probation officer. He failed to do so, and a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of fail to comply with probation order.

It is alleged on Oct. 20, 2025, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of failure to attend court after having appeared.

On April 2, 2026, the man was located by CPS officers, who were dealing with an unrelated matter. The warrants were executed and he was held for a bail hearing.

ARSON

Cornwall, ON – A 20-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on April 2, 2026, and charged with arson – disregard for human life and arson – damage to property. On Sept. 4, 2025, members of the CPS responded to a police assistance call, and an investigation ensued – led by a detective with the CPS Criminal Investigation Division. It is alleged on this date, the man intentionally or recklessly caused damage to a structure by fire, and set the fire knowing, or being reckless as to whether, the property was occupied. As a result of the investigation, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for the man’s arrest. On April 2, 2026, he was located by the detective. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on May 7, 2026.

IMPAIRED OPERATION

Cornwall, ON – A 44-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on April 3, 2026, and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). On April 3, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to the area of Second Street West for a possible impaired driver, and an investigation ensued. The woman was located by police and the investigation revealed she was allegedly operating her motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on April 28, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 30-year-old man from Beckwith, ON, was arrested on April 3, 2026, and charged with three counts of fail to comply with probation order. It is alleged on April 3, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not possess any weapons. On this date, the man attended the Port of Entry, where an investigation was initiated by Canada Border Services Agency officers. He was subsequently turned over to the CPS. It is alleged the man was in possession of an edged weapon and a baton. He was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on May 7, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on April 3, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with probation order. It is alleged on April 3, 2026, the youth was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to remain in his residence between specific hours. It is further alleged on this date, the youth breached the conditions of his curfew. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. He was located by police, taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was released to appear in court at a later date.

OPERATION WHILE IMPAIRED, UNAUTHORIZED POSSESSION OF WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on April 4, 2026, and charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon

In the early morning hours of April 4, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to a Sydney Street establishment in relation to a fight, and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, police encountered an individual who was allegedly operating his motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The man was taken into custody and further investigation revealed he was in possession of brass knuckles. The man was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on April 28, 2026.

ASSAULT PEACE OFFICER

Cornwall, ON – A 46-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on April 4, 2026, and charged with assault a peace officer. In the early morning hours of April 4, 2026, police responded to an unwanted person complaint at a Pitt Street establishment, and an investigation ensued. After being taken into custody for a Liquor Licence and Control Act violation, it is alleged the woman struck a CPS officer in the face. She was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 31-year-old man from Akwesasne was arrested on April 4, 2026, and charged with mischief – destroys or damages property. On April 4, 2026, police responded to an intimate partner violence call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man damaged his girlfriend’s property. He was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The man was later released to appear in court on April 28, 2026.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 23-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on April 5, 2026, and charged with domestic assault. On April 5, 2026, police responded to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on April 4, 2026, the man assaulted his wife. On April 5, 2026, he located and taken into custody by a CPS officer. The man was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on April 28, 2026.

SHOPLIFTING, BREAK AND ENTER

Cornwall, ON – A 43-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on April 5, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant and additionally charged with break and enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence.

It is alleged on June 28, 2025, the woman attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for her arrest on the charge of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

On April 2, 2026, police were dispatched to a break and enter complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on April 2, 2026, the woman broke into the residence of an individual known to her. As a result of the investigation, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest.

On April 5, 2026, the woman was located by a CPS officer, who was on general patrol in the City of Cornwall. The warrant was executed, she was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on May 7, 2026.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 46-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on April 6, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on April 6, 2026, the man attended a Second Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. The man was taken into custody by the Loss Prevention Officer at the business and subsequently turned over to a CPS officer. He was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on May 9, 2026.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on April 6, 2026, and charged with domestic assault. On April 6, 2026, police responded to an intimate partner violence call, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man assaulted his wife. He was located by a CPS officer and taken into custody. The man was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
