FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING
Cornwall, ON – A 33-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on April 7, 2026, and charged with eight counts of fail to comply with probation order and four counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.
It is alleged on Jan. 19, 2026, and March 10, 2026, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not attend a specific Ninth Street West business. It is further alleged on these dates, the woman attended the Ninth Street West business she was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise on both occasions and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items.
It is further alleged on Feb. 13, 2026, and March 3, 2026, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not attend a specific Second Street East business. It is further alleged on these dates, the woman attended the Second Street East business she was prohibited from visiting, selected merchandise on both occasions and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items.
The Cornwall Police Service was contacted and investigations ensued – led by a Community Safety Officer. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for the woman’s arrest.
On April 7, 2026, she was located at the courthouse. The woman was charged accordingly and returned to cells to await a bail hearing.
BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE, MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on April 7, 2026, and charged with breach of recognizance and mischief under $5,000. On April 7, 2026, CPS officers responded to a disturbance complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the youth was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, she damaged property in her residence. The youth was located by police and taken into custody. She was charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and released to appear in court at a later date.
FAIL TO ATTEND
Cornwall, ON – A 47-year-old man from Ottawa was arrested on April 7, 2026, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Nov. 1, 2018, the man was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of fail to attend court. On April 7, 2026, the man was located by a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) unit. The warrant was executed and he was released to appear in court on May 19, 2026.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old woman from Brockville was arrested on April 7, 2026, and charged with domestic assault. On April 7, CPS officers responded to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman assaulted her boyfriend. She was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The woman was later released to appear in court on May 5, 2026.
FAIL TO COMPLY, THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE, POSSESSION PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME
Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on April 7, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000
It is alleged on March 26, 2026, the youth was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to not be in the care and control of a motor vehicle. It is further alleged on this date, she stole a motor vehicle. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest.
On April 7, 2026, the youth was located and taken into custody by members of the Ottawa Police Service and subsequently turned over to the CPS. Further investigation revealed the youth was in possession of car keys, which belonged to another stolen motor vehicle.
She was charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and held for a bail hearing.
