SHOPLIFTING
Cornwall, ON – A 36-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 7, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on April 15, 2026, the woman attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Safety Officer. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On Aug. 7, 2026, the woman was located by a Cornwall Police Service detective. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Sept. 10, 2026.
SHOPLIFTING, ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – On Aug. 7, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to a Second Street East business to investigate a disturbance.
A 30-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting and assault. It is alleged on Aug. 7, 2026, she attended the Second Street East business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. It is further alleged the woman assaulted the Loss Prevention Officer at the business. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Sept. 22, 2026.
Meanwhile, a 34-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested and charged with three counts of assault. It is alleged on Aug. 7, 2026, the man assaulted the Loss Prevention Officer at the business as well as two other individuals. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Sept. 8, 2026.
DANGEROUS OPERATION, IMPAIRED OPERATION, OVER 80
Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 7, 2026, and charged with the following:
- Dangerous operation
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
On Aug. 7, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to the area of Vincent Massey Drive to investigate a motor vehicle collision. It is alleged on this date, the man drove his vehicle in a manner that was dangerous to the public. Further investigation revealed he was operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The man was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was later released to appear in court on Sept. 8, 2026.
FAIL TO COMPLY, MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – A 30-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 8, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with probation order and mischief under $5,000. It is alleged in the early morning hours of Aug. 7, 2026, the man was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is also alleged he threw a brick at a Montreal Road business window. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, police developed reasonable and probable grounds for the man’s arrest. On Aug. 8, 2026, he attended police headquarters to address the matter. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Sept. 22, 2026.
MISCHIEF, IMPAIRED OPERATION BY DRUG, ASSAULT PEACE OFFICER
Cornwall, ON – On Aug. 8, 2026, CPS officers attended the Port of Entry in regard to an impaired operation complaint, and an investigation ensued.
A 33-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant and additionally charged with operation while impaired – drugs.
Meanwhile, a 44-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested and charged with assault a peace officer.
It is alleged on Aug. 1, 2026, the woman damaged the property of a Second Street West business. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was subsequently issued for her arrest on the charge of mischief – destroys or damages property.
On Aug. 8, 2026, the individuals were taken into custody by members of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and subsequently turned over to the CPS.
The investigation revealed the woman was operating her motor vehicle under the influence of drugs. The warrant was executed, she was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Sept. 8, 2026.
It is also alleged that during the investigation, the man assaulted a CBSA officer. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
IMPAIRED OPERATION, OVER 80
Cornwall, ON – A 20-year-old man from Fort Covington, NY, was arrested on Aug. 9, 2026, and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired (80 plus). In the early morning hours of Aug. 9, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to a Brookdale Avenue restaurant in relation to an impaired driver complaint, and an investigation ensued. The man was located by police and the investigation revealed he was allegedly operating his motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Sept. 8, 2026.
MISCHIEF
Cornwall, ON – In the early morning hours of Aug. 9, 2026, police were dispatched to a disturbance complaint, and an investigation ensued. A 16-year-old youth and a 17-year-old youth, both from Cornwall, were arrested and each charged with mischief under $5,000. It is alleged on Aug. 9, 2026, the youths damaged property inside their residence. They were located by police, taken into custody and each charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youths were held for bail hearings.
SHOPLIFTING
Cornwall, ON – A 57-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 9, 2026, and charged with three counts of theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on July 8, 2026, and twice on July 23, 2026, the man attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store on each occasion without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and investigations ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for his arrest. On Aug. 9, 2026, the man attended police headquarters to address the matters. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Sept. 10, 2026.
ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON – A 39-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 9, 2026, and charged with assault. It is alleged on July 16, 2026, the man assaulted an individual in the parking lot of a Ninth Street West business. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for the man’s arrest. On Aug. 9, 2026, he attended police headquarters to address the matter. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Sept. 10, 2026.
