SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 50-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 18, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on June 26, 2026, the woman attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued – led by a Community Safety Officer. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for her arrest. On Aug. 18, 2026, the woman was located by a Cornwall Police Service officer at the courthouse. She was charged accordingly and returned to cells to await a bail hearing.

UTTERING THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old youth from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 18, 2026, and charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. On Aug. 18, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to a family dispute, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the youth threatened to kill his mother. He was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM, POSSESSION OF WEAPON FOR DANGEROUS PURPOSE, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – On Aug. 18, 2026, members of the CPS were dispatched to a weapon’s complaint, and an investigation ensued. As a result, two individuals from Cornwall were arrested.  

A 17-year-old youth was charged with assault causing bodily harm and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose. It is alleged on this date, the youth shot his father with a BB gun, causing injuries. He was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth was held for a bail hearing.

Meanwhile, a 39-year-old man was charged with two counts of domestic mischief. It is alleged on this date, the man damaged his son’s motor vehicle and his girlfriend’s property. He was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The man was later released to appear in court on Sept. 15, 2026.

FAIL TO COMPLY, SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – A 35-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 18, 2026, and charged with fail to comply with probation order and theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. It is alleged on June 5, 2026, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is further alleged on this date, she attended a Ninth Street West business, selected merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. As a result, reasonable and probable grounds were developed for the woman’s arrest. On Aug. 18, 2026, she was located by members of the CPS, who were dealing with an unrelated matter. The woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on Sept. 22, 2026.

UTTERING THREATS, CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 18, 2026, and charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and criminal harassment – repeatedly communicate. On Aug. 18, 2026, a CPS officer was dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the man threatened to physically harm his ex-spouse and repeatedly communicated with her in a manner that caused the woman to fear for her safety. The man was subsequently located by police. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM

Cornwall, ON – A 43-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on Aug. 18, 2026, and charged with domestic assault and assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle. On Aug. 18, 2026, CPS officers were dispatched to an intimate partner violence complaint, and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date, the woman assaulted her ex-spouse and chocked the man. She was located, taken into custody and charged accordingly. The woman was later released to appear in court on Sept. 22, 2026.
